I’m waiting for my son’s renewal. It has been at processing since the 21st April. I don’t see this status on many other peoples tracking history – is this indicative of a problem?
Thank you

It means that I needs to be looked at by an examiner, basically it’s fallen out of the “digital” route. Mine is a lost passport replacement, and has been processing since 30th march. From what I can see, it’s likely to take longer if it goes into processing

Beyond a joke this, I don’t understand why it’s taking so long, holiday on 24th of May, anybody apply at a similar time?
As caridad said it just means it’s gone to the manual route instead of digital.
I think with digital every check is done automatically and just needs a person to accept it at the end so it’s much quicker.
I’ve heard anything as little as phoning them up can cause it to go to manual processing so there may not be any problems. Only way to be 100% though is to contact them and be sure they’re not waiting on anything on your end (as it’s already gone to manual it won’t add any time).
There’s currently about 6 weeks wait in processing depending on which office. I’m at 4 1/2 weeks in Durham and it’s not even been picked up by an examiner yet.
I submitted my application on the 19th March. Mine has been sat at processing since the 5th April. I posted my old passport to Corby so I think it is with Peterborough. 6 weeks and still waiting.
Nope it simply means the application has dropped from the digital route into the manual process route – as things stand it’s will be like this for a few weeks given the backlog.
