Hi all,
As an avid reader of this forum throughout my wait for a passport I thought it only fair to add my experience and timeline below. My application was a renewal but registered as a lost passport as I could not locate it at time of renewal. I have highlighted the steps I took outside HMPO’s usual process in bold.
Received from TNT 12:53pm on 18 August 2020
Passport printed and sent 10:53am on 14 August 2020
Application approved 9:26am on 13 August 2020
Evidence of travel requested & sent on 12 August 2020
Call to HMPO to escalate to urgent on 12 August 2020
Call to HMPO in an attempt to escalate 10 August 2020
Response from HMPO on Twitter on 24 July 2020
Message sent to HMPO on Twitter on 22 July 2020
Application being processed 1:11pm on 21 July 2020
Identity details received 9:07am on 16 July 2020
Email sent to person confirming your identity 5:10pm on 15 July 2020
Ask someone to confirm your identity 5:04pm on 15 July 2020
Application submitted 5:04pm on 15 July 2020We are due to travel on 25/08/2020 so received with less than a week to go.
The urgent escalation service offered by HMPO worked very well. You can ring them the day before the 4 week period is up and they will action it. 2 weeks prior to travel without the 4 week period being up wasn’t enough as I was told on my call to HMPO on 10 August 2020.
As people have stated previously to track your passport with TNT use your postcode (with the space) and the PAN number is your application reference WITHOUT any numbers or spaces. Entering those two pieces of information will show you the package details, click that and it will show you your delivery date but not much else until it has been delivered.
If anyone has any questions I will be happy to answer them. I know how much of a stressful time this can be, especially with the added potential for quarantine upon our return!

I chased a bunch of times but they never thought my desperate pleas to escalate it, with my passport being only proof of legal immigration, was important enough.

Application submitted 1:26pm on 1 June 2020October 2, 2020 at 2:05 pm #2996Grantham TravellerParticipantMany months ago I posted about my grandson’s suspended first-time passport application from Vietnam. He was born in Hanoi in December 2019. The application was made by my son in January. Both parents are 100% British born but work in Vietnam. The application was suspended by the PO in March 2020 by cancelling the online interview. In late June my son wrote to our local MP about the delay and total silence. He also wrote to ask for his son’s birth certificate to be returned. The birth certificate was returned but with no further information. The interview was then suddenly arranged for 22 September and conducted online from a Passport Officer’s home address (the PO having finally got their acts together with the software). The passport was printed on 24 September and a day or two later the MP wrote to my son to say that had happened – the PO told my son nothing. By using Twitter messaging I managed to get the DHL tracking number out of the PO which had also not been supplied to my son. The passport arrived at Hanoi on 1 October and was collected by my son today (2 October). We have no idea whether the MP’s intervention made all the difference, but it is interesting the PO kept him up to speed but not us.
Application time: 8.5 MONTHS
Delay time: 7 MONTHS
The passport is a blue Brexit one, and of course has a picture of a one-month-old child in a passport for a ten-month-old.

Passport Arrived on 6 October. The delay in receiving the documents was my fault, i took a few days to send them. It then took a week for the passport to arrive to Ireland from Belfast as DHL were quite slow in delivery. Supporting documents are due to arrive tomorrow. The Passport is Blue and no interview was conducted (citizenship by descent)

Submitted 1st adult passport forms on 2nd October and they are now saying that the application is on hold as no interviews are taking place. I’m just wondering if you had to chase your application at any point for them to issue without interview.
Thank you.October 26, 2020 at 10:03 pm #3066KinnesParticipantDelivery finally happened on Oct 9th 2020.

This forum has been quite helpful to see roughly how long the process would take. However i hadn’t seen any posts on replacement/damaged passports, I’ve posted my timeline below. PLEASE NOTE- if you want to speed up the process i would highly recommend sending in a signed letter explaining how your passport was damaged as they will ask for this anyway.
