June 2, 2022 at 4:00 pm #16815Woodhj_ukParticipantI had been posting my updates in Liverpool thread for the two passports (one child renewal, one new) I have needed. But as my other daughters went to Bootle I will continue it here.
Latest update on new child passport is: Passport Approved
Application online 3 May 2022
Royal Mail confirmed delivery to postroom (with a signature this time) – 5 May
Documents officially received – 16th May
Passport Approved – 02nd JuneIll keep updating to give others a rough timeline.

June 5, 2022 at 12:12 pm #16871EnneviveParticipantDoes anyone have any first hand experience of how long it takes for additional documents to be looked at for a ‘first child passport’. I was asked to provide my own birth certificate. Many thanks 🙏🏻
June 5, 2022 at 3:44 pm #16882NS2022Participant@ennevive I sent in another birth certificate for my son that was confirmed delivered by Royal Mail on 23rd May. We were told to give them a couple of weeks to get it scanned on the system, so I was expecting to have to call tomorrow to ensure they have it as you don’t get a ‘documents received’ notification for additional docs, but we received confirmation this morning that it’s been approved! I’m so happy as originally applied 20th March, but now the end is in sight (although I don’t want to jinx it!)
One thing I did do after reading a post on here yesterday was complete the survey on the website as it has been suggested that many people have had approvals following this. I didn’t expect it to work and it might just be a coincidence, but I would say now that it’s definitely worth a go! If you go to the page where you enter the PEX number to track the progress the option to complete the survey is there. No need to put in your email address at the end either.
When did you send in your birth certificate?June 5, 2022 at 9:03 pm #16889EnneviveParticipantHi NS2022,
Thanks for your reply. This gives me hope. The document was received on Friday 27th of May (according to Royal Mail). I was unsure whether I would get a new ‘document received’ update. Hopefully my application is running appropriately 1 week behind yours. I was surprised that they approved your application on a Sunday. Maybe they’re working overtime to clear the backlog.
Thanks for your update. Really helpful and reassuring.June 6, 2022 at 10:25 am #16900user9000ParticipantFirst Child passport:

Application submitted 9:00pm on 2 May 2022Passport received today, 6th June. I suspect that without the 4 day bank holiday weekend it would have come on either 1st or 2nd June, but just happy to have it now! 35 days, which seems to follow roughly the stated average waiting time for a first child passport.

Passport Approved – 02nd June
Passport Printed – 06th June
Passport Dispatched – 07th June
Passport Received – 08th JuneI know some want to know when final docs you posted off get back, so will post that soon but from reading this and the threads, if you have a relatively normal application with no errors then my experience has been on the 3 passports I had to get (2 posted about here)
a. It takes about 2 weeks for them to “receive” your docs once royal mail actually say they have delivered them. Additionally, there is no guarentee “signed for” actually gets a signature (2 of mine did, one didnt).
b. For both renewals (one adult, one child) after acknowledging receipt, I had them back within a week or so.
c. See above for first child.
d. docs back seem to be unpredictable. For mine, my old passport was back very quick. For the child renewal it took about 3 weeks. For the above….we shall see.I hope this helps others.
June 13, 2022 at 3:01 pm #17338fuliciousParticipantThought I would share here that my original application was to the bootle office but after 10 weeks of waiting out of the blue I was contacted by the Belfast office to send in addition documents. So offices could change.
I’m not sure how in this day and age that it could be possible that someone waits for a passport for 3 months (that’s 1/4 of a year) and if this ever happens in any other developed countries. I was about to see my GP for depression just from the stress this is giving me!

however, child renewal is stuck in Hemel Hempstead, they want marriage certificate to provide mothers details, however marriage cert is stuck in Bootle with wifes application which has now been approved.
systems wont talk to eachother and no one at all will call me back even after numerous calls and emails.

June 16, 2022 at 3:54 pm #17640LplplplpParticipantI had short-notice travel planned for 7 July that I absolutely needed to be at, only to realise my passport was due to expire. I submitted my application to Bootle on a standard application, not fast-tracked, and it’s gone fairly fast. Adult renewal.
I submitted it just before the Jubilee holidays so didn’t expect any updates for a while but it’s been approved on 15 days and should hopefully be printed 16/17th and in my hand within a week! I was asked to confirm my identity surprisingly, but realised it’s because I look hugely different from my last passport to now.
I hope this fast-paced process eases the concerns of any other Bootle applicants!Application approved 4:08pm on 15 June 2022

I have applied and received my adult renewal. Waiting in 2 kids passports. One first, one renewal. Worryingly the tracker went backwards on both kids. Phoned and manged to talk to someone who said that they have changed the way they track them now?! Waiting on callback within 48 hours.
I’m within the 10 weeks but travel 22nd July. Very stressed about it, especially with the tracker changing backwards. Couldn’t fault them for the adult one.

We applied for 1 child renewal on 6th May
Documents were signed for on 10th at bootle
But were only officially confirmed on 30th MaySince then no further progress on gov.uk
Very worried, we go away the day after you.
My only consolation at the minute Is that looking on other people’s here it seems the biggest delay is between “documents received” to “passport approved” BUT after its been approved its normally only a week or so until its been printed and sent out.
Fingers crossed for us all. I’m up the wall with worry.
