July 8, 2020 at 5:34 pm #1744Willym73ParticipantJust had this update on the Peterborough renewal. Don’t know if registering a complaint, using twitter or my MP contacting the Home office has helped this on since Monday.
The system is floored due to bad management. I was told Durham are very busy and Peterborough are too. I asked why they were going to different offices and was told to evenly distribute the volume. My complaint and subsequent letter to my MP was based on this information and why the management are not manipulating the system to distribute to offices that have spare capacity like Glasgow clearly has. ???? I guess I’ll never find out but something may have worked !

Complaints as I sent mine to
Glasgow on 25th and royal
Mail delivered 26th still saying they ain’t got it was special delivery so I know they haveJuly 8, 2020 at 6:21 pm #1748Willym73ParticipantComplained over the phone on Monday, I tried numerous times to get through saying “renewal” but kept getting put on call back. So the final time I said complaint and got through. I’ve been emailing MP since last week and had email confirming passing onto Home office on Monday. But that was for the Peterborough and Durham ones as my Glasgow only took 5 working days. They actually rcieved my Glasgow one on the Tuesday, Scanned on the Thursday and I recieved it Monday. !

July 13, 2020 at 1:32 pm #1876lolasmama1ParticipantHello everyone
I just wanted to put up my time line as whilst waiting for my daughters renewal I was on here every day checking other peoples experience. I hope this may help/reassure some of you.
I applied for my daughters renewal by paper application on 23rd June and used check and send service at my local post office.
My application went to Glasgow passport office.
I have at no point throughout application contacted them I’ve just waited.
I received a text on Saturday 4th July as follows:Your application has been received. It’s taking longer than usual to process applications because of coronavirus (COVID-19). If you need a passport urgently for compassionate reasons or government business, call the Passport Adviceline https://www.gov.uk/passport-advice-line
This was somewhat reassuring at least I knew my application and old passport had been received and was at some stage in the system.
I received another text today 13th July
You should receive your new passport within a few working days. We’ll send your supporting documents separately.
So although I have not yet received passport I’m confident I will within next few days.
My renewal has been done within 3 weeks which is pretty impressive.
Thank you to Glasgow Passport office
July 15, 2020 at 9:21 am #1961sprajax1ParticipantHi All,
I’m also experiencing Glasgow as taking time. I submitted my husbands application on the 28th June. They received the old passport on the 2nd July and acknowledged on the 6th. Went to application processing on the 8th, so pretty quick and I was feeling hopeful, but now it’s been stuck at application process a week on.
July 22, 2020 at 7:07 pm #2197sprajax1Participant2 weeks on still at ‘processing’…
July 23, 2020 at 11:59 am #2217llrayParticipantHusband’s passport application (adult renewal) to Glasgow seriously impressive! His was even quicker than mine done in early February before Covid. Even though we’re down south he had to send to Glasgow as it seems they’re redirecting to spread the load (we’d normally fall under Peterborough which is where all our renewals and kids passports have been done before).
Application submitted: Thursday 16th July 2020
Application received: Thursday 16th July 2020
Documents received: Wednesday 22nd July 2020 (we sent special delivery and it had arrived on Friday 17th)
Application approved: Wednesday 22nd July 2020
Passport being printed: Wednesday 22nd July 2020
Notification that new passport has been sent: Thursday 23rd July 2020So barely five full working days from application to passport sent.
