Even If they approve it, I don’t know if it will even reach here in time, with the various times it’s taking to print and then be delivered. Some people are recieving there’s within a week of being approved while others are taking longer. I am seriously thinking of changing it, if I can. Means I would have to take kids out of school for a week, but really isn’t my fault, as I put the application in with plenty of time, not my fault it’s taking 10+ weeks.

Jespop30 – not your fault at all! It’s awful what we have to go through, the stress and logistics 🙁

Is there a deadline / latest to when you can change your booking? (Ours was 7 days so we waited until then but asked them for an estimation)

What would help is if they are just honest – if they are overwhelmed say it – if it’s going to take the full 10 weeks then tell us – OK we’ll be annoyed but if you’re told the reason and given a timescale then we’ll cope with it – at least people can avoid this roller-coaster of frustration and anguish as travel deadlines approach

Spoke to tui, and anything under 28 days comes with a cancellation fee, and as in due to fly in less than 15 days, means I would lose 100%. I spoke to the advise line, couldn’t wait till tomorrow. She has put an urgent call back for the progress team, and she hopes they ring today, but if not she wants me to ring back tomorrow, and wants me to speak to the customer management team. She said it looks like they are waiting for something. I said my marriage certificate, which is already in the office. She asked if I had heard from them and I said no, and she said I should have heard something from them. Just have no hope anymore.

Jespop30 – that’s awful! You’d think there’d be some flexibility at least, given it’s not your fault at all 🙁

Yeah you’re right, the least they could do is be honest about the timelines changing suddenly from 3 weeks to 10! So out of order.

Fingers and toes are crossed for you hun 🙁 xx

Amy93 – the only way to change it this close if one of us got COVID. She did say as it’s hit 10 weeks, they will be able to speed it up, so we will see. Thanks hunni x

I was going to suggest this but thought better of posting it! What proof is required if you cancel because of COVID?

Djbdane – I have no idea, someone said they didn’t require proof but I can’t see them amending fee free without proof. Maybe just a positive lft, as you no longer need to follow up with a PCR test now.

Well cases are high again at the moment and rising – so it wouldn’t be as if the cases were low and all of a sudden ‘you got it’ – maybe have a read of the booking documents see what’s required – of course sods law will mean you cancel because of COVID and it arrives in time anyway!

When I ring passport office tomorrow, as lady on the phoned advised me too, will see what they say. Will also be telling them how unimpressed I am, as every week for the past few weeks I have asked about fast tracking the application and every time I have been told, I don’t need to as it will be here within plenty of time, well we are suppose to fly in just over 14 days and I am no closer to recieving it.

Im new to this site and worried in hearing all your stories. Ive been caught by the passport needs to not be more than 10 years since issue before travel – Realised last week that issued in April even though it expires in late November. Travelling out to Italy on 25th April and 10 year since issue on 24th… didn’t want to risk it so have applied for renewed passport – fingers crossed.

People here talk about ringing and speaking to people whom can help sometimes…. what is the number you ring and what are best times to ring? I either have a gnarl number whom seem to suggest they tell you nothing or a number I can’t get through on – useful to have a number to Liverpool which might be useful.

    Thanks

Like many here, I’ve been quite stressed about the times and, most importantly, lack of updates/info by the Passport Office. My application was for a first adult passport after naturalisation and I just received my passport today. If it helps anyone, my process was as follows:

Passport delivered by TNT – 21 March 2022 (I never received any updates from TNT but the TNT tracker started showing my passport in their system from 18 March)
Supporting returned by Royal Mail – 16 March
    Passport printed – 14 March 2022
    Application approved – 11 March 2022
    Application being processed – 23 February 2022
Documents received – 13 February 2022 (Royal Mail actually delivered the documents on 4 February)
Application submitted and received – 31 January 2022
