Stp – it’s a mystery why some applications are processed quickly and others take such a long tim
This may help explain it – there are two routes through the application process – digital and manual -if all the checks etc can be completed on the digital route the application is processed faster, you don’t have a processing stage you go from docs received to approved in one step.
If however the digital checks can’t be completed or some other issue arises you drop out of the digital route into the manual route – you then get the processing stage update. Requesting a call back can be enough to drop your application out of the digital route.
Of course everyone’s application is individual to them so other factors may come into play.
I was lucky I applied on the 21st Feb and had the passport in my hand on 22nd March – with no processing update. I gathered this information from staff guides which are available online if you google them.

I applied for a passport weeks ago but it seems like the application is moving super slowly/is stalling.
Is there anything I can do to help the process move faster or fast track it?
This is the progress;

April 25, 2022 at 2:45 pm #13237CherryblossomParticipantThat is great news. I am also applying for my first passport after naturalisation and I think I am about a week after you. My 5 weeks is on this coming Wednesday. I have not heard anything from them and my status is still at documents received. Hopefully I will get good news soon
April 25, 2022 at 6:55 pm #13251StpParticipantdjbdane – were there interviews available soon after you called them then? 4 weeks is pretty fast including one.
I only applied 12 days after you so 52 days in for me now and still nothing.
Travel 21 days from today and I think jet2 allows changes up to 15 days before travel so now having to decide before the end of the week to either pay about £600 more to rearrange or risk not getting it by then and lose the whole holiday.

I received an email on Thursday 10th March inviting me to book an interview had an video interview on Sun 13th the earliest date available at the time – my application was approved just over an hour later.
I think however they may have now gone back to in person interviews – so no idea on the availability of interviews and timescales on those.
April 26, 2022 at 11:51 am #13358StpParticipantJust off the phone to them.
7 and a half weeks and it’s still untouched, in a queue to be seen by an examiner. So in almost 2 months all they’ve done is link a birth certificate.
Highly doubt they’ll examine it, interview me then post it within 20 days so about to rebook. What was a gift, now costing me £600 :/ – on that note I’ve seen it mentioned on here a few times but has anyone actually gone about trying to get compensation for them taking over the 10 weeks?
Also been told for the first time that apparently my application was transferred to the Durham office at some point so I guess my timeline may not be very relevant on this thread now.
