That’s great news about your husbands passport – well done!! Great advice from everyone, truly appreciate it!
July 3, 2022 at 7:35 pm #18374lkm1990ParticipantLooking for advice, I am going to have to fast track two new child passports on Friday the 8th if nothing received as we fly on the 22nd July, only issue is we have lost reference numbers, we applied by post will We need these reference numbers to fast track or can they find the details as they have confirmed they have received the forms? getting no luck from customer service in tracing the reference numbers any advice would be greatly appreciated.
July 3, 2022 at 7:39 pm #18375karenclay85ParticipantHi there, I applied by post as well and didn’t take a note of the reference number, don’t know why it didn’t occur to me. Anyway, I called the customer service number and they struggled to find us but after a few searches found us and adviced the reference numbers. I would definitely say you’ll need them. Worthwhile phoning again, hopefully you’ll get better luck.
July 4, 2022 at 5:32 am #18381wb1979ParticipantWell I’m off to Peterborough this morning as we travel on Wednesday. Fingers crossed.
July 4, 2022 at 5:34 am #18382karenclay85ParticipantGood luck! Let us know how you get on.
July 4, 2022 at 7:08 am #18383lkm1990Participant@wb1979 have you got an appointment or just turning up? Our closest is Peterborough but bootle have our forms can I still go to Peterborough if needed?
July 4, 2022 at 7:25 am #18384wb1979Participant@lkm1990 Just turned up. In the queue now. I arrived about 7:45 and people were separated into those travelling in 48 hours and another queue. Probably 40-50 people in each queue.
July 4, 2022 at 7:46 am #18386wb1979Participant@lkm1990 Also, they said if you applied online they should be able to transfer from another office but if it was by post that is more difficult.
July 4, 2022 at 8:00 am #18387ns1972ParticipantThe forum is a brilliant resource – thanks to everyone for contributing.
I have a long and boring story about my son’s passport, which I will update with at a later stage (we travel next Tuesday 12th)
His old passport was stolen/lost by Royal Mail/HMPO and we only found out via an enquiry from our MP over two months after they knew! It has now been cancelled.
My question, for when I inevitably have to go in person later in the week, will I need to take countersigned photos or a paper application with countersignature (though it is an online application). I don’t want to turn up without the correct documentation.
Any advice gratefully received.

July 4, 2022 at 9:58 am #18390harvy2020Participantthanks all great info and I know what needs to be done now….
First New Child Passport
Submitted 5th May and everything was done within 24hrs, documents sent within 48hrs by recorded post.
The flying out date is 15th July. However still waiting, was told about the 2 week process over a call, and got in touch Friday gone, we had the confirmation email of the upgrade request and evidence sent of flight details, now await the phone call, reading this forum chances are will be waiting forever, fingers crossed it is this week or early next!
But based on everything said here I will need to travel up to the Newport office on Wed 13th 🙁
Anyone been at newport? was you ok getting a passport printed on day?
July 4, 2022 at 10:33 am #18392kjr194ParticipantHi everyone I just got of phone with hmpo regarding my upgrade, I fly TOMORROW. Funeral, they have still said wait for an upgrade phone call, I just don’t know what to do, my tracker says my identity details received, doesn’t even say they have been confirmed, I live 10 mins away from Liverpool passport office, I am wondering is it worth going there? Also what documents do I need to take? As my old passport is lost does a driving license/provisional license count as proof of citizenship? Also do I need proof of adress with me there? Sorry for the huge message I’m just stressed out.w

July 4, 2022 at 10:51 am #18395karenclay85ParticipantI’m sorry to hear that you are still experiencing this so close to travel. From what I understand you can take your driving license and proof of travel along with your ref no of your application. It wouldn’t hurt to take a proof of address, bank statement etc. not sure if anyone else has anything to add. I would definitely go to the office. I truly hope you get this sorted.
July 4, 2022 at 10:59 am #18397wb1979ParticipantLooks like mine has been sorted finally. The staff at Peterborough were lovely and after a horribly stressful few hours of waiting the lady called Glasgow for me and told me they would sort it today. I got a call from Glasgow about an hour later and have been told I can pick up the passport at 1:30. I won’t quite believe it until it is in my hands.
I really hope everyone else manages to get their passports. And if you were the Scottish lady who was trying to get her husband’s passport for a trip to America – let me know how you got on.
July 4, 2022 at 10:59 am #18398kjr194ParticipantYeah I’m going to go first thing in the morning with my id and travel itinerary l, fingers crossed it gets sorted, rest of family all got there’s just me waiting. It’s an absolute nightmare. Thanks for your help. Fingers crossed 🤞
