I’m just back from my trip. I had heard nothing from the upgrade team regarding my application by the morning before I was due to fly. So I went to the Peterborough office to enquire and hope that someone could push things along. That was at around 1:30 in the afternoon, staff there were great and got me seen to despite how busy it was. Passport in hand by 5:15. It does sound like you need your application to have been created more than 6 weeks ago, but I would definitely recommend just heading to your nearest office and forcing the issue then if it’s looking bleak.

Today I’ve resent the upgrade email but copied in Glasgow, Liverpool and Durham in the hope someone calls me today.
My sons upgrade was sorted on Saturday so now we are just waiting for daughters.
We applied over 6 weeks ago for both of my childrens thinking we had plenty of time.

I’m pretty sure it was still handled by the Liverpool team as well, it just took a bit of a talking to from one of the managers in Peterborough to pushing things along.
May 30, 2022 at 11:09 am #16554BecciJ75ParticipantHi really finding this helpful but some conflicting advice given. My replacement application was sent on 5th April
at the time of the application it gave the expected passport time of 4-5 weeks, I made an appt at Peterborough paid an extra £147 to fastrack it, when I got there I was told we cant do anything about it as you have an application in process. told not to panic but call when it gets to 14 days before travel.
I did that and got a call last Monday (23rd) to upgrade request (Liverpool) was told on the phone and email will get a call within 48 hours.
I have called every day since and they haven’t called me back once! completed an form with a caller on Saturday 28th and was told again I would have an urgent call back, this still hasn’t happened. I called again yesterday and was told “stop stressing they will call you back but hey are working in date order of travel” I asked the question so are they working and delivering passports over the Bank Holiday and weekend and she said yes!
Just called again nearly in tears and another form was completed to be sent to the progress team and someone will call me….
I am really now starting to lose any hope of this passport being here for us to Fly Sunday now – total loss as to what else I can do..
I have emailed a complaint stating every person you speak to tells you something different and even emailed my local MP, my application is at Liverpool and I am thinking do I just drive there Friday and wait? I dont know who to believe now with them being open and sorting out passport this BH?

We also fly Sunday … I’ve been waiting for the call back from upgrade too since last Monday , I’ve been told offferent that the upgrade team didn’t work the last bank holiday and won’t be working this one ! So unlikely I’ll hear from them 48hours before travel when there not working ! I don’t know what to believe any moreMay 30, 2022 at 1:51 pm #16583theonelinkParticipantI was dialing my holiday companies number to reschedule – cutoff is 48 hours before flight – when as if by some miracle I received a no caller ID and it was the upgrade team.. the lady took payment and I’m now waiting for a call back with a time to go and collect my own and my daughter’s passports; we fly 15:30 on Wednesday so 48 hours before.
My brother is also set to be on the same flight but as his application is a a few days short of the six week mark he received an email saying there is nothing they can do so he’s on his way to the office now as a last resort..
I now have to scramble and pack everything I honestly had zero hope and was about to push our holiday back 9 weeks.. you couldn’t write it
May 30, 2022 at 2:32 pm #16587DannyCParticipantHas anyone managed to confirm if the passport offices are open on the bank holidays? We’re flying on 4th and waiting on our upgrade. Trying to work out if we need to resolve it by Wednesday or if Thursday and Friday are in play.

May 30, 2022 at 3:41 pm #16596LizzoParticipantI just got back from the London passport office. After an hour and 40 mins I finally got to the front of the queue. The gentleman at the door said that because my flight is not within 24 or 48 hours (I fly on the 7th June) they can’t do anything today. They are only dealing with urgent flights, it seems like anyone who has a flight tomorrow or the day after they are letting it not sure if they are definitely getting passports but they are letting them in to be see. So he spoke to an advisor at the desk who said to come back on Saturday, so I’ll be there bright and early, in the mean time I’ll be Calling the processing and upgrade team.
