Hi Panda24,
Have you had any movement on your childs passport renewal that was stuck in process? My daughters has just moved to “in process” and very worried about the wait from here 🙁May 14, 2022 at 8:42 am #15109Panda24ParticipantHiswm1982,
Thankfully the passport has now been received.I emailed Newport upgrade team directly proof of our travel and called constantly. I don’t know if it was coincidental or not but the passport went from being in processing for nearly 8 weeks to being received within a week Its so stressful. T seems that more recently sent passports are being actioned much quicker than those stuck on processing from March and often longer.
Hope your arrives very aoon
May 14, 2022 at 8:57 am #15111swm1982ParticipantThanks for the reply Panda24, fingers crossed my daughters doesn’t fall into the same black hole that other people have experienced. I’m glad you got yours sorted and have a stress free holiday

Does anybody know what the current time frame is in Newport for passports at the “processing” stage at Newport? Has anybody moved past this stage without having to chase / escalate 2 weeks before they travel?May 24, 2022 at 3:05 pm #16120damnstudentsParticipantHi all – been following the forum so think only fair to share my experience. Was dreading it but for an adult renewal it’s been completely painless.
Firstly I paid around £12 and had my photos taken at Max Spielmann to reduce the chance of a kickback for shadows etc and then I applied late in the evening. I sent my old passport first class signed and it was signed for 2 days later on the 13th.
I have had notification that my passport has been printed today – exactly 14 days after my application.

Application submitted 8:37pm on 10 May 2022I sent my daughters on the same day to the Peterborough office and it has only been updated to ‘documents received’ today.
May 24, 2022 at 4:23 pm #16133gi81ParticipantI also used a photo taken at Max Spielman for my son’s renewal, sent to Newport, but it’s been stuck on the “documents received” stage for a month now.

Application submitted 3:24pm on 11 April 2022I also submitted my own renewal and my daughter’s renewal on the same date – they both went to Liverpool, I received my new passport on 30th April, and my daughter received hers on 19th May.
There seems to be quite a bit of luck involved, which is frustrating.
May 24, 2022 at 7:45 pm #16153gi81ParticipantAnd as if by magic:
Application approved 8:27pm on 24 May 2022
So relieved. Good luck everyone.
May 25, 2022 at 3:07 pm #16230swm1982ParticipantFor anyone stuck in “processing” in Newport, here is my timeline to put some minds at ease. I did do a web chat today, and it was approved 45 mins later:

Application submitted 8:12pm on 27 April 2022May 25, 2022 at 4:24 pm #16240Danny2022ParticipantDid you contact them or had it just happened itself?, I was the same as you applied for 3, mine went to Liverpool and took 13 days to arrive, one of my kids went over to belfast and took 12 but the newport one is just sat at documents received!, if they are struggling they shouldn’t still be sending them there
May 25, 2022 at 4:31 pm #16241swm1982ParticipantI contacted them using online chat, they told me it was still processing and was with an examiner. They said it shouldn’t be too long.. 45 mins later all done
May 25, 2022 at 8:04 pm #16258gi81ParticipantI didn’t contact them as it’s still more than two weeks to our flight date.
However, about 2 hours before it went to “application approved”, I clicked on the “Fill in a survey about this service” button that appears when you view the current status of your application (after you enter your PEX number). I gave some feedback on the inconsistency in approval times, and 2 hours later it was approved.
Now, the same thing happened with my daughter’s application – I gave some feedback (via her application) and it was approved less than a day later. At the time I just put that down to coincidence, but then yesterday I saw others mention it happening to them on facebook groups so I thought I’d try it out with my son’s application (nothing to lose), and like I say it was approved 2 hours later. I’m not sure though – plenty of others said it didn’t work for them on the facebook groups, and with the amount of people waiting it’s going to happen by chance for some, but it’s worth a shot anyway I guess. (I didn’t enter my email address at the end of the survey, so that isn’t needed).
May 26, 2022 at 12:16 pm #16309hannahgParticipantHas anyone just turned up to the passport office to get theirs sorted that day? I need to fly with work this coming sunday for business critical reasons and because it’s under 6 weeks the upgrade team won’t push it through. I’m pretty desperate here so hoping this might get flagged as an emergency
May 26, 2022 at 2:57 pm #16342emmabroParticipantHi, has anyone gone to the Newport passport office without an appointment? And what was your experience?
I am reading on different forums that some people have had success with this at other passport offices.
We travel next Tuesday 31st, but have not had any luck in getting an upgrade on my child’s first passport. Feeling quite desperate now.
May 28, 2022 at 6:01 am #16480BiscuitsParticipantI applied for my Son’s child renewal. The documents were received by them on 29th April so didn’t take too long to show. I’m not sure why it went into processing but after that it took 2 weeks to be approved.
