I’m currently on hold to the phone number 0300 123 1973 as people have said they are generally more helpful. Any advice as to what I should say for them to help me? I’m desperate for it to be approved soon, we’ve already had to change the holiday and I don’t want to have to cancel it again. But my application has been processing since the 16th March 😕
April 5, 2022 at 4:04 pm #11723amirun87ParticipantMy applications been in since 17/03/22 processing in Peterborough. I called that number today and they said it’s transferred to paper application. Which could now take longer. I’m really concerned I’m not going to make my travels in may

Did they not explain why that had happened? That seems a bit ridiculous if you applied online!April 5, 2022 at 4:07 pm #11726ndl.alex0608Participant@nassao41: I just got off the phone with them on that number a few hours ago. My case is urgent, I asked for my application to be escalated on compassionate grounds, was given an email address to send in evidence (death certificate, travel date, etc.). I explained to the lady and she was very sympathetic. She asked for the date on which I last sent in the documents as evidence etc. and said she would send a message to my examiner. I called that number last week but was answered by someone rather scary sounding: “how did you get this number?!”. So this time I decided to start the conversation by saying “Hi sorry I’m not sure if this is the right number to call about my situation …” then started explaining
April 5, 2022 at 4:48 pm #11729nassao41ParticipantI just got off the phone from that number, the guy told me that it’s not even being checked by the examiner yet as the application has been moved to a different system. He didn’t sound very positive about it even arriving within the 10 week time frame, all I can say is that this has made me feel worse.
I don’t understand how it has been processing for 3 weeks and it’s not even been looked at by the examiner 🙄
I also asked if I’d be able to collect the passport and was told this won’t be possible as it’s not an urgent application.
My local MP contacted them last week and still nothing has been done, looking like I won’t even be able to go away in May now.April 5, 2022 at 5:13 pm #11733amirun87ParticipantNassa41: exactly same thing happened to me today. Called the number and a guy called Liam told me it has changed to a paper system. I demanded to talk to someone senior but apparently that isnt possible. mine has been in processing for three weeks and i go away 6th May. It is looking doubtful for me too after that call.

I know, I’m looking at changing my holiday to the 6th-7th May.
The only reason I’m thinking of doing this is that once they’ve had it for 10 weeks, and you can prove you are travelling within a fortnight, you can have the application expedited. Mine will be 10 weeks on the 3rd May so that’s my hope 🤷🏼♀️ It might be stupid of me to do that but I need to change my holiday to go away asap as it’s difficult for me and my partner to get time off work together.April 6, 2022 at 3:09 pm #11849LLMummaParticipantI was panicking over my child’s first passport as it seemed to sit unacknowledged for a while (It was signed for at Peterborough on the 4th March at 07.25), yet, it picked up the pace, and it arrived within the 5-week guideline. I wanted to share this in case it can benefit somebody or put someone’s angst at ease.

There are two routes through the system, digital and manual – if your application can stay on the digital track it’s by far the quickest, but as soon as something is flagged up or can’t be verified digitally it will drop out of the digital route.
Applications that stay digital go from docs received to approved with no processing stage, a processing update means you’ve been dropped into the manual system. It sounds like you’re now in the manual processing route so it’s anyone’s guess – good luckApril 12, 2022 at 9:41 pm #12327coralpParticipantThe last update for our daughter’s first passport is on 28 Mar Documents received.
I called today and was told the application hasn’t been checked yet.
So does that mean our application has been dropped out from the digital route but not yet been passed on to any examiner?April 14, 2022 at 6:29 am #12408MoshUntilPanicParticipantHi all.

Application submitted: 8:06am on 7 March 2022Not too bad in the end but it’s the not knowing that’s so painful. Posted through letterbox by TNT the day after it appeared on their system. No details received from them so had to search with PEX number on the link provided on the ‘passport printed’ email. Thought the fact photo was ‘fair’ would have put me in ‘processing’ stage but looks like I was one of the lucky ones jumping straight to approved.
Good luck to you all.
