Ok so once you meet the escalation criteria everything moves quickly.
We moved to an escalation yesterday afternoon and the passport is being delivered tomorrow approved and printed this afternoon and now available to view on tnt tracking website.
I have made a complaint as it seems barmy that applications from the same family made online are split up.
Just like when you add a named driver on an insurance renewal surely to “add another” application should be made available and the stress on talking to the help desk where you get a different version of progress depending on who you talk to is infuriating and stressful. I rang twice daily and tweeted daily not sure it helped but it was the only thing I could do..
In saying all of the above we are relieved 😅
Time line (Newport)
Passport printed and sent. 6 August 2020

Application received. 9 July 2020
Application submitted. 9 July 2020Good luck to those with everything crossed.
AMS2020ParticipantWhich offices were these @sprajax1 ?
I seem to get a different answer every time I call it’s infuriating!
AMS2020ParticipantNewport are infinitely slower than Peterborough.
A couple of things two weeks before travel is one of the triggers but you also need the application to be on the system for 4 weeks since applying. We are 9 days from travel one went to Peterborough and was delivered today the other Newport is “being processed” can’t get an escalation until Thursday because we didn’t apply until July 9th.
Personally think the holiday is now off because a) we applied too late b) Newport office is extremely extremely slow and is performing very badly compared with Peterborough.
We are so absolutely anxious beyond belief but the passport office help desk couldn’t care less. (Rant over).AMS2020ParticipantAn update so applied July 9th for two renewals one for Peterborough the other is with Newport spoke to the help desk today as we are two weeks from flying nothing that can be done to escalate anything until Saturday.
No more call backs and whilst you are on hold for longer and sometimes you have to try a few times to get in the cue for me I wanted to speak with someone rather than waiting for a call back so that suited me. Message sent via Twitter dm these folks were initially sharp to respond but now I think they are being overwhelmed with questions so I’d call and wait. Be calm have any reasons for why you didn’t renew before It got so close to flying ready because they ask.
One is processing and one is approved interesting that Peterborough went from documents received straight to approved whilst Newport are processing.
I’m slightly less panicked now hopefully both will be delivered later this week or early next week. Friendly on the phone and to be honest in my case we did not help ourselves with the timing of the renewals so I’ll be grateful and relieved if they come through with some time to spare.
Newport timeline

Application submitted 9 July 2020Peterborough timeline
Application approved 28 July 2020
Documents received 26 July 2020
Application received 09 July 2020
Application submitted 09 July 2020AMS2020ParticipantI have messaged the twitter help folk and had a response after trying many times without any luck to call them (still waiting on a call back).
They have said the passports are marked as received although still not showing as such on the tracker page.
Both applications sent within 20 minutes but two different offices to send the expired passports. Anyway, have to wait until next Wednesday to escalate as that’s when the two weeks from travel bit kicks in fingers firmly crossed! In my minds eye 5 weeks was tight but not stressful very last minute to book to go away this year for obvious reasons just hope we get this over the line or one almighty disappointed family and a very expensive mistake to leave it so late to renew two of the kids passports!AMS2020ParticipantTravelling in Mid August.
2 renewals for kids although one is 16 so one is an adult renewal.
Application submitted and received July 9th
Passports returned the 10th and the tracker is saying send your old passports they were sent separately and neither are recorded as received.
At what point should I worry that the systems haven’t been updated or if they have not arrived it’s been 9 days since they were posted and I’m concerned…appreciate it’s busy and with Covid etc but I’m concerned if i leave it much longer we will have serious problems closer to the time.
So bloody stressful!
