Andrew0510Participant
I travelled 6 hours total to Newport. I paid £122 for a child’s 1 week Fastrack. To cancel my current standard and upgrade that way. I took a paper application and another birth certificate signed photo etc.
Turned away and unable to help.By my own admission.. Totally my choice but desperation makes you stupid.
The Welsh lads on the door weren’t that friendly either! Ha
My local MP also sent an email 2 weeks ago with no joy.
The public service and health ombudsmans is preparing for a complaints influx.
Twitter is also a good source of info. #passportproblems #hmpassport #hmpofailsAndrew0510ParticipantI’d hate to darken the clouds here but I’ve had those replies from the London office (my local) and Liverpool (where my application is) emails were sent with two weeks notice and I missed my flight today as my sons passport didn’t come (he’s 4 months old).
I had his elder sisters in 4 weeks even with a rejected photo.
It was a 5 week wait when I submitted back in February.I’d got through to management teams who hadn’t recieved any guidance and been placed on urgent call backs with urgent flags/messages definitely more than 5 times.
In my opinion.. Asking once and being patient might be the way forward as panicking and hassling the call lines hasn’t worked for me.

03002220222Cancelling flights today. As it’ll never be printed in time for Tuesday morning now..
Andrew0510ParticipantNo success here. Flying Tuesday morning. I got through to the management team who ultimately said they haven’t got guidance as to whether they’re working bank holiday Monday as to whether that counts as the 2nd day before?!

Andrew0510ParticipantAlso with Liverpool.
You had anything?Andrew0510ParticipantThis doesn’t make sense anymore. May I ask was that your child’s first passport?
Pleased for you all don’t get wrong but having applied 17th Feb and meant to be travelling 3rd May I’m getting no where.
Andrew0510ParticipantGreat news! When do you fly?
Andrew0510ParticipantI’ve not heard. Trying to travel Tuesday 3rd May.
Andrew0510ParticipantDon’t do it. I wasted my time going to a physical fast track appointment.
I’ve been on twitter and found lots of people getting calls the day before there holiday to collect passports on the day or day before.
Just email the upgrade team that has your application and pray – that’s all I can do now.
London (my local office) acknowledged my email and liverpool didn’t (they have the application) – they said they are working in travel order. I’ve got a week to go!Andrew0510ParticipantI was told they frown upon it but not dissuaded by the hmpo advisor. I’ll let you know how I get on.
Andrew0510ParticipantI haven’t had a call from the upgrade but did get a telling off from and automated message for sending another email with more details on.
I’m going to travel newport office tomorrow for a new fast track appointment that I booked a few weeks in anticipation of this happening. Fingers crossed they can use the birth certificate from the original application! Might be a wasted 6 hour round trip!
Andrew0510ParticipantHello,
Thanks for the forum and latest news from you all.I sent two applications on 17th February.
I received one passport in the post 15th March with a 2 day delay for photo rejection.
I am still waiting for the second which had a status change on the 18th March to processing.. Apparently the 10 weeks will now start from this date!I’ve been told today about the new upgrade service and sent an email.. Very worried that I may not get a call for a week as I am travelling in two weeks!
I have booked a 1 week fast track in Newport on Thursday but I don’t have a duplicate birth certificate, as my son was only born 4 months ago I can’t get a replacement as priority through the central system.
The advisor did say that they may be able pull the birth certificate from the original application as it does say documents recieved.£49 for child first
£122 for fast track appointment
£8 for photos
£38 for a priority replacement (haven’t paid but awaiting the opportunity)Customer helpline wait is around 30-40 mins but can’t tell you much however they are friendly, impartial and sympthatetic.
