Hi we upgraded to fast track for my sons renewal when the application was stuck in processing and it appeared we weren’t likely to get it. We are due to fly this Saturday 23rd Oct and Saturday gone I booked a fast track appointment in Glasgow for 9am Monday morning (18th Oct). I attended the appointment gave them the application form and a withdrawal letter for the first application. I stated the old passport number on the new application. The lady who took my application said she’d send the withdrawal letter to Durham (where the old passport is) and that we would get the new passport within 7 days. We checked yesterday and the examiner needed a colour copy of the front of my sons old passport emailing through from Durham and this was done. Just checked with them 20 mins ago and the passport is due for printing this afternoon and on TNT’s “last mile” webpage it’s saying it’s due out for delivery tomorrow. So we will just have made it! All hangs on it being delivered tomorrow now as we need to drive up to Glasgow to catch flights at 6am on Saturday!

Hi, We were in a similar position. Submitted application on the 8th September. Went into processing on the 11th October and then reading through others timelines between processing and passport delivered dates it was averaging out at over 20 days. We are due to fly this Saturday 23rd so there was little chance it would arrive in time. Therefore i applied for a fast track and had to go to Glasgow from Newcastle on Monday 18th at 9am to submit the application. Took a withdrawal letter for the old application and gave it to the interviewer. She said she mark the application as a renewal and send the withdrawal letter to Durham (where the first application and old passport are held). She said i’d receive the passport by Monday 25th so pinning on hopes they will deliver quicker than the guaranteed 7 days. Subsequently my wife rang today to check on progress and they said the examiner looked at the application today and has requested a scanned copy of the front of my sons old passport from Durham. Therefore i have little hope that the scan will get to him quickly, passport printed and then delivered to me before 8pm this Friday night. If the interviewer had marked the passport as lost i’m unsure if this would of helped speed the process up or they may have checked on the system and realise it’s not lost and in Durham. Such a messy and frustrating time. Heart breaking for the kids and to loose over £2500 as insurance won’t pay out unless one of us gets COvid!

No, i took the signed letter to the appointment without sending it off first. The lady said her boss would send to Durham. I didn’t fill out the passport lost section on the fast track form but just stated the old passport number. I can see people tweeting that they followed the same process as me but are waiting to fast track passport still on Day 9! The guarantee a 7 day receipt of passport!!

I went to Glasgow for a 9am fast track appointment on Monday. Gave her the withdrawal letter and told her Durham had the old passport and were still processing the first application. She said they’d email it through to Durham and we’d get the new passport by next Monday at the latest. Until it is in my hand i can’t tell you if it’s been a success.

Hopefully it has worked for us. I followed the advice of what others had done (detailed on twitter feeds between them and the PO) who subsequently applied fast track, provided a withdrawal letter at the fast track interview and got their passports 3-4 days later. The lady who served me at the fast track in Glasgow said we will get the next passport by Monday next week at the latest. She said that most of her day is taken up with people having to do the same as me (cancel existing and go fast track).

We submitted our child’s renewal on the 8th September. Application history changed to adult processing on the 11th October. Due to fly on the 23rd Oct so looking at the timeline between processing and passport approved working out at around 20 days, no chance of it being here by this Friday on the 22nd… So I basically applied for a fast track on Saturday morning and travelled up to to Glasgow for the interview at 9am yesterday morning and gave them a withdrawal letter for the application that’s processing at Durham! So they have cancelled that application and I will get the passport before Monday. So still may miss the Saturday flight and have to buy a new flight next Monday!

Hi, We’re still waiting. Just so annoying there is no flexibility and seem to hit a brick wall each time we make contact!

Hi Hannah, We’re in the same position as you and due to fly on the 23rd Oct! It’s all very stressful and I despair at the varying responses we get back from the customer service team when we call them (heading towards a dozen calls made!). Last week we were told given the timeline below we are likely to get my sons passport in time to the latest comment this morning stating it may take up to 5 weeks from now!!!!
We’re not sure how long we can wait now before having to cancel the holiday and loose a small fortune. All we want is a true update and to speak to someone close to the application. The guidance is very misleading and if we had known of the “up to 10 weeks processing time” we would of gone fast track!

Application being processed 3:10pm on 11 October 2021
    Documents received 3:45pm on 17 September 2021
    Application received 9:33pm on 9 September 2021
Identity details received 9:32pm on 9 September 2021
Email sent to person confirming your identity 5:40pm on 8 September 2021
Ask someone to confirm your identity 5:39pm on 8 September 2021
    Application submitted 5:39pm on 8 September 2021

Thanks Dang, We’re now on day 24. Just had an update to say “application being processed”. DOn’t know whether to take this as a good sign or not as there are a few timelines with weeks between application being processed and application approved.

Due to fly on the 23rd October. Rang this morning and got through to the processing team and told it’s in the queue to be examined. That was the only info they could provide. Too late to cancel and go fast track!

Likelihood of receiving in the post before the 23rd October?
