It can change. My daughters was at Peterborough. I sent her old passport there, and when I requested the upgrade, the email they sent with how to upgrade had Peterborough’s upgrade email. When I was at Peterborough yesterday, she told me for some reason it was now in Liverpool! She couldn’t figure out why it had changed.
bugs1987ParticipantI feel incredibly lucky. The man checking the queue was quite abrupt and told me I’d have to collect it tomorrow but the lady inside was fantastic and assured me I’d get it today. I’m so grateful I got a nice lady helping. It was cutting it fine as the last printed batch came to the collection point at 4.50.
Keeping everything crossed you get some news soon!bugs1987ParticipantI arrived at Peterborough around 1.30pm. Was seen really quickly and picked the passport up at 5.
bugs1987ParticipantFrom what I gathered with my daughters being at Liverpool was that Peterborough had to contact them to release it to Peterborough. They couldn’t approve it but could see the details. But once approved, any office can print it.
For reference, I applied on the 11th April so 7 weeks 1 day ago. We fly on Thursday.bugs1987ParticipantI finally have both my childrens passports! As promised by the Glasgow upgrade team my sons was delivered this morning and I still hadn’t heard from Peterborough upgrade team about my daughters so I decided to drive there today. I arrived around 1.30pm and there was a queue. A man came out and was asking people questions and wanted proof of travel in the next 2 days and proof of application. I was taken in the building and given a slip. Sat there around 10 minutes and was called.
She saw my daughters application has been sent to Liverpool and she called them. They approved it and Peterborough printed it. At around 4.40 I got the text so went to the collection point and it was there waiting. So happy and so grateful to the
Peterborough office, first for seeing me and second for sorting it and me being able to leave today with it in hand!bugs1987ParticipantI’ve still heard nothing from Peterborough and we fly on Thursday.
Today I’ve resent the upgrade email but copied in Glasgow, Liverpool and Durham in the hope someone calls me today.
My sons upgrade was sorted on Saturday so now we are just waiting for daughters.
We applied over 6 weeks ago for both of my childrens thinking we had plenty of time.
Looks like I’ll be driving to my nearest office in the next few days.bugs1987ParticipantQuick update on my childrens.
My sons went to Glasgow and my daughters to Peterborough. We applied over 6 weeks ago and travel on the 2nd June. I’ve emailed and called numerous times and a few days ago I spoke to a very grumpy man at the progress team who said I wasn’t eligible to upgrade and he hung up on me. I didn’t give up and called and emailed a few more times.
This morning I received a phone call from Glasgow and she’s upgraded my sons! She took payment of £80 and is posting it and it will arrive by 1pm on Tuesday.
She couldn’t upgrade my daughters as it’s at the Peterborough office so I just need to keep calling and emailing about hers until it’s in hand.
I’m so happy but also nervous at the same time.bugs1987ParticipantBeen on the phone with a man at the progress team. He’s told me that we won’t get our passports as we don’t qualify for an upgrade. The reason being we don’t meet the upgrade criteria. I have an automated response email from Peterborough saying that to be eligible to upgrade I need to have submitted my application at least 6 weeks ago and be travelling within the next 2 weeks and i meet both as it’s over 6 weeks since I applied (11th April) and i fly in a week (2nd June). He is trying to tell me the 6 weeks starts from when it changed to processing and that he’s aware of these automated emails and they’re wrong!!! He then hung up on me. Fuming isn’t the word.
