@katez1992 yes, at the Durham office.

Keep calling them, I got lucky one day and got straight through to the processing team. I asked if a note could be added to my application and the lady on the phone sent an email about my application to the Durham office. It got approved the next day. I don’t know if that was just coincidence, but it’s worth trying. Good luck!

    My timeline:

    Passport printed 1:54pm on 5 April 2022
    Application approved 9:57pm on 30 March 2022
    Documents received 9:35am on 7 March 2022
    Application received 4:56pm on 20 February 2022
Application submitted 4:56pm on 20 February

Only just been able to see tracking info on tnt for delivery, it’s due to be posted tomorrow. So the whole application took just under 7 weeks for me – I also had to write to them to explain damage to my old passport. This part took the longest as it took over 2 weeks for them to register my letter, and none of that was updated on the tracking system.

@maryy93 my renewal got approved on the 30th so I’m one day behind you, still waiting for it to be printed. I’ll post here if I get any updates.

After ringing every day for a week, I finally got through to someone helpful on the processing team who told me my letter confirming the damage to my passport was linked to my application on 28/03 (Royal Mail said this was signed for by Durham office 11/03). I explained to her how much I was panicking and asked if a note could be left on my application for the examiners to pick it up asap, she said she could email Durham office with my details letting them know when I fly and the date I have to apply for my visa by. The next day, my application got approved so now just waiting for it to be printed and delivered. Just under 4 weeks til I fly so I’m feeling relieved and a lot more hopeful it will arrive with time to spare.

It’s a ridiculous system and it doesn’t seem to be very fair, but ringing them and hounding them to do something seems to do the trick!

I’m so frustrated. I posted previously here my timeline(standard adult renewal):

    Application submitted online: 20th February
Old passport sent off: 21st February
    Passport signed for: 22nd February
Documents showing as received: 7th March

After my documents were received, I was asked to write a letter explaining water damage on my passport (10th March). I sent the letter off the same day and it was signed for by the Durham office on 11/03.

And I’ve had absolutely nothing since, just reminders from them to send the required documents. I’ve rang the helpline so many times and been told a different thing each time – firstly I rang to check if this would delay my application, the advisor said no. I rang back after a week to see if I could find out if my letter had been added to my application and was told it took 8 working days for them to acknowledge documents. I rang back after 8 working days and got told it would be 10 working days. I called back again this morning and was told it’s now 11 working days to acknowledge the letter, so it seems as though the customer service ‘help’ line just move the goal posts every time you call. I pushed and pushed to speak to someone different or the actual office dealing with my application but was told nothing can be done, all they can do is raise a complaint. When I asked if a complaint would speed up my application they said no, also she said that applications waiting for additional information are put on hold so the very first adviser I spoke to gave incorrect information. So I’m at a loss as to what the helpline is actually there for – I know a few people on this thread have called up and it’s seemed to progress there application, if so what did you say or do to actually get them to take action? I think someone said they also contacted their local MP – did this work in moving the application forward?

I’m due to travel on the 26th April, so there is still time, but it seems as though my application has ground to a halt whereas I can see from this forum people who have sent their application after me already have their passports.

Hmrc passports emailed me today saying that my old passport is damaged and that I need to write and sign a letter explaining the damage. I will do first thing tomorrow but has anyone had this before and did it delay the application any? I’m worried it’s going to take them another 2 weeks to pick up my letter and link it to my application…

In the middle of an Adult renewal application at Durham. Here’s my timeline so far:

    Application submitted: 4.56pm 20th Feb
    Application received: 4.56pm 20th Feb
Old passport sent (royal mail first class recorded): 21st Feb
Old passport signed for: 22nd Feb
    Documents received: 9.35am 7th March

So it’s taken them nearly 2 weeks to acknowledge my old passport. I hope that things aren’t starting to take longer, I’m due to fly at the end of April…
