My husband turned up at Peterborough for 7:15am and there were about 30 people ahead of him. When they opened, they organised the queue by people who were flying first so people behind him were able to jump ahead if they were flying out sooner. Those who turned up later were able to go ahead of him too.
When he got to the front, the Upgrade team called him and said if he paid £90, they were able to print the passport at Peterborough for him to collect. This was a massive relief as we weren’t sure whether it was already in the post or printed in Durham where the application went to.csy30006Participant@djbdane we requested for it to be printed at a more local office but only in one of the later emails. They didn’t say where it’s being printed and they didn’t mention if we can pick it up. We tried following up but received no response.
I’ve just tried the TNT tracking using the barcode application number we got when we did the paper check and send. Unfortunately it’s not showing so I’m not sure if it’s printed.
We’re going to the Peterborough office tomorrow to see if they will either redirect the printing to the Peterborough office if it’s still in the queue for printing or whether we can upgrade delivery to next day if it’s with the courier.csy30006Participant@StephieC do you know when your passport was printed? We’ve been told my husband’s passport is in the queue to be printed and that standard post would be 2nd class. We asked to pay for next day delivery but they haven’t called us to organise it. We’re due to fly out on Monday and with not knowing if it has been printed or posted yet, I don’t think 2nd class post will make it in time.
csy30006Participant@kasiajanik we were told today my husband’s passport is in the queue to be printed. However, we don’t know where it’s being printed and if it’s Durham, we will need it to be posted next day rather than Royal Mail 2nd Class which is their standard.
We’ve tried to respond to their email a couple of times asking if it can either be printed in Peterborough or London for collection, or pay for next day delivery. No response yet so if it’s in the mail as 2nd class post, I’m not sure if it’ll arrive in time for our trip on Monday. It’s one issue after another!csy30006ParticipantSee below the email we sent on the guidance of the Customer Management team.
Subject: URGENT “application number” “Surname” “date of travel”
FAO Upgrade Team
I made an application on the 19 April, uploaded on the system on the 29 April, but all supporting documents is already with the passport office. As I have travel booked for the 27th of June can this application now be upgraded? Attached is proof of flight details.
Once the application has been approved, if collection can be done, can the passport be issued and collected from the Peterborough office?
My contact number is: XXX
csy30006Participant@vsn22 I didn’t realise it had to be 6 weeks in processing as this isn’t something the Customer Management team mentioned. We assumed the 6 weeks is based on when the documents was received. As we did a paper application, we can’t see when they began processing or whether they have started processing. The Customer Management helped us draft the Upgrade email so we assumed we would be eligible for the upgrade.
Our flight is on Monday and we are planning on going to Peterborough tomorrow morning.csy30006ParticipantMy husband is in the same situation. We’re due to fly out on Monday. His passport is in Durham and we live in London so we’re planning on turning up at the Peterborough office on Saturday. Having read experiences from other members of the forum, they can send your info to another office for it to be approved and printed.
csy30006Participant@brussels83 As far as I’m aware, there is no receipt of confirmation and I was told this doesn’t mean they’re not looking into it. They also prioritise people flying within 24-72 hours. I think if we don’t hear back by Friday, we’re going to make our way to the passport office in Peterborough assuming the Peterborough office queue will be smaller than the London one.
csy30006ParticipantWe’ve just spoken to the customer service management team again. The person we spoke to this time round was more helpful than the last and even helped us draft the email. Although we have been emailing them since last Tuesday, it was interesting to know the emphasis on the capital D, U and T when sending the email to DurhamUpgradeTeam@hmpo.gov.uk. We also mentioned that we would pick the passport up from the London office, which is local to us. They also escalated this to the Upgrade team. Apparently we should hear back by tomorrow afternoon.
csy30006Participant@blondie23 reassuring to know. Hopefully we will hear from them this week before travelling to Peterborough.
Our flight is at 7am on Monday. Ideally we’d go to the office on Friday assuming they’ll be out of action on Sunday and closing early on Saturday. If we go on Friday is it unlikely they’ll do anything about it since it’s more than 48 hours before we fly? I’m a bit nervous leaving it until Saturday to sort out.
csy30006ParticipantThanks! This is really useful to know.
If we can’t get my husband’s passport in time, we’ll try Peterborough rather than Durham.csy30006ParticipantWe fly at 7am Monday 27th June, waiting to hear back from the Upgrade team after sending them multiple emails. If we can’t through to the upgrade team, we’re planning on going to the Durham office from London on Saturday. Has anyone travelled to the Durham office on a Saturday and managed to get seen, have their passport approved and printed on the same day? With the office closing early on a Saturday, we’re worried it might be a waste of a journey.
csy30006ParticipantWe are due to fly on the 27th June but after 7 weeks of waiting, my husband still hasn’t received his passport. He submitted his passport for a renewal with a name change and have emailed the Durham upgrade team to no response.
Is it worth driving to Durham on the Saturday to request for his old passport if we are due to fly on the Monday? Does anyone have any successful experience turning up at the passport with no appointment? -
