Mine was on approved for 10 days before being printed – that was back in March.
djbdaneParticipantMine was at approved for 10 days, it then went to printed then was delivered the next day – as soon as you get the printed update you can start to track it on TNTs website – don’t wait for tracking info to be sent as often it isn’t – you can use you PEX number on the tracking site.
djbdaneParticipantI’m not an examiner but from publicly available documents it appears there are two routes applications can take
Digital route – this is by far the quickest – all the checks etc they do can be completed entirely digitally – you’ll know if you’re on this route if your application goes from Docs received to Approved – there will be no processing update, in fact the absence of a processing update is a good thing!
Manual route – if for some reason the application can’t be completed entirely digitally then it drops into the manual processing route – your update will go from docs received to processing – it’s then anyone’s guess how long it will take depending on what the issues are.
So I would say the longer your application remains on the ‘docs received’ stage the better as it shows you’re still on the digital route.
Anything can drop an application to the manual route – and apparently even requesting a call back about the application is enough – so unless it’s really urgent don’t contact them unless you really have to.
djbdaneParticipantWhen is a virtual interview required? I haven’t seen that step in other applications, mine is also adult 1st passport but because of naturalisation.
An interview is required for a 1st Adult UK Passport it’s to verify your identity – however having just been through the naturalisation process it may not be required in your case as they already have verified who you are as part of that process.
djbdaneParticipantI am afraid it’s how long is a piece of string – if your application can be processed on the digital route then it could be a matter of a few weeks – or if it drops to manual processing considerably longer – I am afraid only time will tell here.
djbdaneParticipantAt this point can they still request documents or highlight an issue with the application, such as the person confirming my identity?
The fact you have a processing update means that the application couldn’t be processed entirely digitally or all their checks couldn’t have been completed automatically – so it may just be someone will have to sign off on it manually – or they will need further documentation if the application requires it – it could be anything or nothing at all – I am afraid only time will tell.
djbdaneParticipantI’ve no idea how long the interview process will take to book – my experience in March this year I rang on the Thursday, had a virtual interview on Sunday and my application was approved an hour later. The good news for you is the timeline looks similar to mine, it looks like you’re on the digital route so the interview should be the last thing and your status should go to approved from the docs received status – skipping out the dreaded processing update as mine did. So keep trying to book that appointment – I suppose you’ll just have to be patient , try as much as you can to get through. Good luck.
djbdaneParticipantYes ignore them – same here, even when I knew the documents had been delivered I still has reminders to send them – as soon as the document received update happens and they are scanned on to the system the reminders stop
djbdaneParticipantIts seems if you applied in February, March and April your passport application has gone into a black hole as if you had applied in May you are getting passports back within weeks.
Not everyone – I applied on the 21st Feb and had my passport in my hand on 22nd March
djbdaneParticipantMine was approved on a Sunday – I had a video interview and an hour later it was approved.
djbdaneParticipantYes they do – mine was approved on a Sunday
djbdaneParticipantMine was approved on 13th March – I had the passport in my hand on the 22nd.
djbdaneParticipantThere are two routes through the system
docs received -> approved (the digital route)
docs received -> processing (you’ve been dropped into the manual route)There will be a reason it’s dropped from digital to manual – it’s now down to whatever that reason is how long it takes to resolve that and how busy they are. The digital route is the fastest.
djbdaneParticipantPassport office received my old documents on the 4th of May, however my documents have not been added to the queue;
I assume your postal tracking is telling you they were delivered on the 4th – it doesn’t mean they are processed the same day and it’s perfectly normal for there to be a wait (mine was 10 days) before the docs received update – it just depends on how busy they are.
djbdaneParticipantWent from “Docs Rec” to “Approved”.
You stayed on the digital route – no manual processing required.
