Thank you so much for info. Just spoke to them and can’t tell be anything as it is not on their system yet as printed. Something about it moves to manual when printed?
I think the weak link here is TNT – something has gone terribly wrong and instead of being honest they are now making it up as they go along. On this forum there are people approved after me who have their passports in their hands – OK I appreciate every case is different but 9 days stuck on approved for me now – I called last week and was told to call back today if there was no update over the weekend – this morning it endless hold music then being cut off – I’m a pretty easy going guy, but this is starting to extract the urine now!
djbdaneParticipantDay 9 stuck on approved – tried to call, after the 3 hour introduction message it now just bombs me out – assuming massive demand on the phones now too as the whole system seems to be falling apart!

That’s only half the battle I am afraid – I’ve been stuck at approved for 8 days now – no sign of it being printed, the delays seem to have crept all the way through the system now.
djbdaneParticipantDjbdane – I have no idea, someone said they didn’t require proof but I can’t see them amending fee free without proof. Maybe just a positive lft, as you no longer need to follow up with a PCR test now.
Well cases are high again at the moment and rising – so it wouldn’t be as if the cases were low and all of a sudden ‘you got it’ – maybe have a read of the booking documents see what’s required – of course sods law will mean you cancel because of COVID and it arrives in time anyway!

djbdaneParticipantAmy93 – the only way to change it this close if one of us got COVID
I was going to suggest this but thought better of posting it! What proof is required if you cancel because of COVID?
djbdaneParticipantDay 8 since approval – still stuck on approved – I really was hoping it would move to printed today – suppose there is still time – if it’s like this in the morning I’ll be back on the blower to them!
djbdaneParticipantJespop30 – not your fault at all! It’s awful what we have to go through, the stress and logistics 🙁
What would help is if they are just honest – if they are overwhelmed say it – if it’s going to take the full 10 weeks then tell us – OK we’ll be annoyed but if you’re told the reason and given a timescale then we’ll cope with it – at least people can avoid this roller-coaster of frustration and anguish as travel deadlines approach
djbdaneParticipantDjbane- yeah think you’re right, it’s just a queue and then TNT just taking what they can.
Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s pot luck at this stage too 😂 I’ve lost all faith!
I’ve just had a massive 4 month drama with the DVLA getting a licence so this is nothing compared to that – but maybe something to factor into this is COVID cases are rising again, so maybe illness is now impacting the service at every level – I know this is what the issue was at the DVLA (and industrial action)
djbdaneParticipantMine was approved 16th and meant to go away 24th March (next thurs) not looking likely. I’m wondering if you called then and if they can help speed the process at all as I doubt they can and have already rang them loads
Nothing to lose by trying but I get the impression when it’s approved it’s ‘passed’ for printing, so you’re in a queue and you just have to wait your turn in the queue. However, I suspect the weak link after approval is TNT as I was told it can take up to 5 days for TNT to collect once printed, so I think they are only collecting as many as their system can process at a time – so it may be printed and sat in a cage waiting for TNT to collect it.
djbdaneParticipantI’m hoping the printing and delivery goes quick as I am due to fly on the 28th
Mine was approved on the 13th March and is still showing as approved this morning – so be prepared for drama! Good luck hopefully you’ll get it in time.
djbdaneParticipantAfter the office has received your documents, what determines whether your application is approved instantly or is instead sent to ‘application processing’? This seems to be the determining factor in how long your application takes, with applications that need to be ‘processed’ taking considerably longer.
There are two routes through the application process – the digital route and the processing route. According to documents online the digital route means all necessary checks etc can be accomplished digitally – as soon as something crops up, the application is dropped out of the digital route and people get involved – this is the processing update, apparently even requesting a call back is enough to drop the application from the digital route.
I was lucky it took 20 days for my application to be approved, and I went straight from docs received to approved – so this was a digital route application. I had an interview and an hour after that it was approved.
However, that was last Sunday – and I’ve been stuck at approved since then – apparently there are delay in the printing and collection by TNT process now due to demand.
djbdaneParticipantHope all is well! Does anyone know (for child passport renewal) how many days will it take from: –
“Your application is being processed”
To: –
“Application approved”Thanks a lot!!
I suspect you’re now in how long’s a piece of string territory I am afraid. There doesn’t seem to be any pattern or standard time scale, and timings seem to be specific to each application.
djbdaneParticipantDocuments received 4:12pm on 28 February 2022
Application received 9:09pm on 6 February 2022That’s the killer here – your time elapsed as far as they are concerned didn’t start until the 28th when the updated the docs received. You’ve two weeks to go, so hopefully you’ll be OK but to be honest delays are getting longer and longer it seems, mine was approved a week ago (Sun 13th) and hasn’t been printed yet – just keep on their case, it does seem sometimes it just comes down to the person you speak to – some are really helpful, others aren’t. Good luck and fingers crossed.
djbdaneParticipantThe trustpilot reviews for TNT passport delivery are horror stories – they have a 91% bad rating. It’s very clear they have bid for the contract, without the infrastructure in place to process the deliveries in a timely manner – it’s not as if they didn’t know the numbers involved – so I am assuming it’s lowest bid wins and the service sure reflects that.
