July 10, 2022 at 9:47 am in reply to: Duplicate text message from HMPO saying old passport received #18621Eskimo32Participant
Received that duplicate text as well, my daughter’s renewal application hasn’t shifted from ‘documents received’ since 4th May and we travel in 16 days. What a shambles!
Eskimo32ParticipantStill no joy here and no call back from the Progress Team after Advice Line couldn’t find details of my daughter’s application on their system – was posted on 27th April and documents received 4th May but no update on the tracker since then. But – good news in that because I’m in Belfast we can have dual nationality as born on the island of Ireland so the new Irish passport is on its way after just 6 weeks, compared to 10+ weeks for British renewal! Takes pressure off for our upcoming holiday but still furious at this total shambles with HMPO and still out of pocket.
Eskimo32Participant@dan_hughes I did a google search yesterday on this just yesterday, found somewhere that said most Bootle applications end up getting processed in Liverpool. I’m sure I read elsewhere that Bootle is one of the few Passport Offices that doesn’t offer counter services which is probably why people queue at Liverpool. My daughter’s renewal was definitely posted to a Bootle address while my son’s sent the same day to Liverpool
Eskimo32ParticipantStill waiting here too, @dan_hughes. Applied for child renewal on 27th April, documents received at Bootle on 4th May, no movement since. Travel on 26th July but need passport details for ESTA so can’t really wait until 48 hours before travel. So despondent seeing people applying in June getting theirs in a matter of days if not weeks. Hope you get sorted soon.
Eskimo32ParticipantIts so good to read that lots of people are receiving their passports, albeit at the last minute and having to go to a passport office, ridiculous that it comes to this. My problem is that I can’t leave it until 48 hours before I travel, I need my daughter’s renewal passport number to apply for an ESTA and its apparently taking up to 4 days to approve those
Eskimo32ParticipantOur application for a child renewal was also sent to Bootle on 27th April, travelling there isn’t an option for me as I live in Belfast. I hope you get sorted @ka8888 – I’m not travelling until 26th July but need passport number to apply for a visa, so I completely understand your concern. Keep us posted.
Eskimo32ParticipantI’ve been scouring these threads for weeks now, and getting increasingly anxious. From what I have seen, some people have been successful going to their local or closest passport office. I suppose if your documents are logged as having been received then they’re in the system and can be accessed. Im in Belfast, my daughter’s forms are in Bootle and there’s no way I can travel to Bootle’s office so I’d asked similar questions earlier. If they go by expediting after 10 weeks once documents have been received then I have another 10 days or so to wait, application was submitted on 27th April, documents received 4th May. Also waiting here for an Irish passport as we can have dual nationality here – forms and documents sent also on 27th April but documents not officially received until 24th May so I have to wait until they’ve had them for 8 weeks before they’ll consider expediting but there are no guarantees either. I hope you get sorted, keep us posted!
June 30, 2022 at 9:55 pm in reply to: Worrying passport application 2.5 weeks to travel – advice needed please #18269Eskimo32ParticipantGlad you got sorted eventually and can enjoy your holiday. Gives everyone else who is still anxiously waiting a bit of hope. Can I ask how you complained, is there a link somewhere? Thanks!
Eskimo32ParticipantTo anyone who landed down at their local passport office for help, can I ask if your application was initially sent to another office? Belfast is handy for me but my daughter’s application and old passport that needed renewed was sent to Bootle. And had you made an appointment or just gone down, hoping to be seen? Waiting since 27th April. Thanks!
Eskimo32ParticipantLooking for a bit of advice, am starting to panic! Live in Belfast, daughter’s renewal sent to Bootle in April with documents received 4th May. When I logged in the day after the application was made online to see if documents had been received I realised I had entered the wrong year of birth on her application – phoned and was advised to send a letter clarifying the mistake and it would be logged with her application. Did this, still sitting on documents received.
Due to travel to the US on 26th July and can’t apply for ESTA’s until we get her passport. Am confused about my options, or if I even have any at this stage. We fly to the US on a Tuesday, would I have to book a flight and travel to Bootle to try and sort her application out there or can I approach the Belfast office? All her documents were sent off with her application so should I order a new birth certificate for the Belfast office? We stand to lose a huge amount of money, was supposed to be holiday of a lifetime for us, saved for years to afford it. Am hardly sleeping worrying about it and so annoyed at myself for making such a stupid mistake. Any help would be much appreciated
