Frustrated_1Participant
Mine was ‘being processed’ for over 5 weeks. Throughout the 5 weeks, customer service kept saying there was no issue and should be approved within a few days which was a lie! Was told after 5 weeks that there is a discrapancy in my application and I need to send a letter to explain the discrepancy. In reality, it took 8 weeks since I submitted the application for someone to genuinely review my documents.
Frustrated_1ParticipantFirst time adult passport application (after naturalisation)
It’s been a very stressful process overall and some much misleading information being provided throughout by customer service. Just 3 days shy of the 10 weeks milestone.
Application submitted: 2 February 2022
Ask someone to confirm your identity: 2 February 2022
Email sent to person confirming your identity: 2 February 2022
Identity details received: 2 February 2022
Application received: 2 February 2022
*Supporting documents sent via next day delivery on 2 February 2022*
*Documents signed for 3 February 2022 according to Royal Mail*
Documents received: 11 February 2022
Application being processed: 28 February 2022
*Examiner genuinely looked at application 29 March 2022*
*Informed of discrepancy (only country of birth shown in my foreign passport)*
*Asked for a callback directly from Examiner (customer service were useless)*
*Call from Examiner on 4 April 2022*
Application approved: 5 April 2022
Passport printed: 8 April 2022
Passport received: 9 April 2022Frustrated_1ParticipantSo finally someone picked up after 2.5 hours. They were quick to say it’s not been 10 weeks and that too from when the documents were scanned on their system. I pushed back on that saying it is not my fault that they are slow in updating their system and I have proof that all documents were signed for the day after I made the application. She was quick to say keep an eye on your emails and just cut the call. So rude
Frustrated_1Participantjespop30 – great news, enjoy the holiday!
Frazmorris75 – unless it is an emergency, they are not willing to do anything until the 10 weeks have elapse. I applied 8 weeks ago and it is still in a queue awaiting an examiner to look at it. I am now on hold for nearly 2 hours waiting for someone to pick up. HMPO is a joke.
Frustrated_1Participant@ maryy93 fingers crossed that they’ve been indeed picked up. I don’t know how much I trust them though as two weeks ago progress team told me that my application was in examination and this week they said that was wrong information and it is still in a queue. There’s no accountability whatsoever.
I applied on the assumption that it would take 5 weeks and book my flights on week 6. I had to fork out £500 to move my flight already and seems like even the 10 weeks deadline won’t be observed
Frustrated_1Participant@ maryy93 mine has been in a queue awaiting examination since 28 February (applied 2 February). So not even looked at by an examiner yet

Frustrated_1ParticipantIf you are lucky and someone helpful calls you back then maybe they can speed up your application. My application has been in processing since 28 Feb and I just called to find out it is not in examination yet! The advisor could only say wait until 10 weeks despite several notes on my file explaining that I need this urgently for employment purposes. I have no hope that it will be completed within the 10 weeks
Frustrated_1ParticipantI have three alerts/urgent note on my application as well but that does not seem to do anything. I’ve been told that it is in examination and nothing has been flagged but they can’t tell me what’s taking so long to approve. 49 days and counting…
Frustrated_1ParticipantAmy93 – after waiting an hour managed to get through to someone. Not been assigned to an examiner yet and my only option is to wait till the 10 weeks have elapsed for them to take the matter seriously. Last resort is to send a letter to the local MP in the hope that might trigger something to move
Frustrated_1ParticipantHi Amy. I’m a very similar situation as yourself; awaiting examination since 28 Feb. How can you find out if you’ve been allocated an examiner? I keep getting mix messages from customer service
Frustrated_1ParticipantThank you. I’m worried that I request the documents back and that adds another month or two to my application. It’s been a really stressful experience so far
Frustrated_1ParticipantI’ve asked for my supporting documents to be returned. Even that is a hassle! One told me to send a letter, another one said an email is sufficient but they are taking ages to even acknowledge the email.
Frustrated_1ParticipantApplication being processed: 28 February 2022
Application received (second notification): 24 February 2022
Application received: 11 February 2022
Documents signed for: 3 February 2022
Documents sent: 2 February 2022
Identity details received: 2 February 2022
Application submitted: 2 February 2022Literally nothing has moved with my application since the 11 February; been awaiting an examiner for now 31 days. I’ve been calling everyday for the last 2 weeks and sending emails; nothing gets done. I need my supporting documents and British passport to complete employment background checks but “I just have to be patient” is the only solution they seem to have.
