Good LifeParticipant
Hi @Bobokitty
Congratulations…what a journey eh?
I tried this very useful link kindly posted by @RayClarke for DHL which avoids account setting :A very helpful link for applicants from abroad to get a tracking number from DHL using their applications number
https://www.dhl.com/gb-en/home/our-divisions/global-forwarding/help-and-support/hmpo-delivery-services.html.It brought up tracking info via my mediapad but not by accessing the site via my phone for some reason.
If you sctoll through the section with regards to Live Tracking, select the dates from when you made your initial submission and current date, then enter your PEX number without breaks and minus the “PEX”.
For my application, I received the HMPO “Passport being Printed” message on 13th June but this wasn’t collected by DHL until 16th June. From there I tracked its way over to France.
Best of luck!!Good LifeParticipantThat’s excellent Andy. You have created a fabulous website forum. I believe hundreds if not more have benefited from the support received. Also, why can the old passport not be sent with the new as this should save on postage costs?
Good LifeParticipantHi. The same happened to me…I received the “Old Passport Received” email again on 9th June after having waited several weeks on the Documents Received stage.
When I checked on the HMPO tracking a short time after, I was informed that my application was now being processed (via the manual processing route).
However the next day I received an update on the tracking (no new email though) informing me of: “Application approved”…and yesterday, an email saying that my Passport has been printed.
My timeline is as follows :
“Application submitted” as an adult passport renewal online 12:19 28th April 2022
“Application received” 12:19 28th April 2022
(Old passport posted on 29th April and postal tracked as received by HMPO Durham on 4th May 2022)
“Documents received” 15:48 24th May 2022
“Application being processed” 15:05 9th June 2022.
“Application approved” 12:33 10th June
“Passport printed” 17:58 13th June
I am truly hoping that for all those receiving the same or similar messages recently that something is about to happen (…and hopefully very soon), especially for all those who have been stuck in the Processing or Documents Received stage for some time.
Initially I was expecting the worse when I saw that my application was going into manual processing after waiting several weeks in the Documents Received stage (but as a previous post mentioned the longer it stays on the route before changing to Processing then the more progressed your application has moved).
Best of luck to everyone.June 14, 2022 at 6:18 pm in reply to: Duplicate text message from HMPO saying old passport received #17444Good LifeParticipantHi @jg0. The same happened to me…on 9th June
I received the same email at 15:52.

Thanks for the post. It is really informative and very much appreciated.
It seems that it is hit and miss who you get to speak to. I have had a few very knowledgeable and informative advisers but others who are perhaps not so au fait (but very pleasant nevertheless).
I agree with you on the addition of notes. Like you, there was urgency to my application which was made more difficult by exclusion from the upgrade and fast track options.
Unfortunately, I ended up with notes added to my file. I am not certain but I suspect that this has resulted in my application ending up at the manual processing route (2 advisors have told me that I had a problem free application). I guess it needs to go along this route so that the examiner can read these. Therefore by trying to expedite my application I have unwittingly ended up doing the opposite!!… I am now destined for the prolonged route.June 9, 2022 at 3:55 pm in reply to: Duplicate text message from HMPO saying old passport received #17143Good LifeParticipantHi @nlmitch
…Me too, I received the same email today at 15:52.
When I checked the tracking information to this, It tells me that my application is being processed…Oh well, it looks like I am in for the long haul now 🙄 according to several posts that I have read with regards to the digital vs manual processing route.
I had already spoken to 2 advisors who assured me that there were no problems with my application prior to this!
I will update when I eventually get out of the chaos (hopefully)…10 weeks later…if I can still find the same thread by then.
Has yours progressed in any way?
My timeline is as follows :
“Application submitted” online 12:19 28th April 2022
“Application received” 12:19 28th April 2022
(Old passport posted on 29th April and tracked as received by HMPO Durham on 4th May 2022)
“Documents received” 15:48 24th May 2022
“Application being processed” 15:05 9th June 2022.
Funnily enough my first “old passport received” email was on the same day as yours. Best of luck.
Please let us know how you get on if you can.Good LifeParticipantHi @Richie
I had been wondering how your application was going. Thank you so much for your update. I am extremely pleased that you have now been “approved”…it gives me some hope. Fingers crossed that yours will be printed and sent within the next few days. I was just wondering if you needed to contact the helpline at any stage and whether you felt it had helped? Please keep us updated! It’s good to see how other overseas applicants are getting along.Good LifeParticipantHi @Caz86
Thanks for the reply. It is truly reassuring to hear back from others in the same situation especially where there is good news at the end of it!! I will have my fingers tightly crossed for you that you receive your passport well before Saturday… here’s wishing you a lovely holiday in advance 🙂.Good LifeParticipantHi @Rayclark. Unfortunately not for me! I have been waiting on the “Old Passport Received” stage since the 24th May.
My timeline is as follows :
“Application submitted” online 12:19 28th April 2022 for a (straightforward) adult renewal
“Application received” 12:19 28th April 2022
(Old passport posted on 29th April and tracked as received by HMPO Durham on 4th May 2022)
“Documents received” 15:48 24th May 2022
I was half hoping that once the “documents received” stage has been reached that everything will be plain sailing however it just seems to be sitting there (I appreciate that there are others who have been or are in a much worse situation). I wonder if it makes a difference being an Overseas Application?
Is anyone else in the same position or can give me hope?
I have tried the helplines for advice but to no avail. I have now almost admitted defeat. Being overseas I am not eligible for the usual fast track, upgrade etc options.Good LifeParticipantHi everyone. I have just been speaking to someone from the customer service team. They said that there are people working (not sure what hours) to process the urgent upgrades onlytoday and Friday. They said there should be a standard processing team working on Saturday as per usual (again, not sure of the hours). I am hoping that she’s right!!
Good LifeParticipantOMG. I have just been speaking to someone on the customer services line today and they said that for overseas applicants…it can take up to 10 weeks from when the documents are received until the passport is approved (depends on which HMPO is examining and the number queuing infront)!!! If anyone reading this post thinks this may not be the case then please let me know!!…
Good LifeParticipantHello Willhkg, was this for a straight forward renewal?…mine hasn’t even got past the “documents received” stage.
Good LifeParticipant@Singapore Don. Thanks for the reply. I hope you receive your documents very soon. I guess it is still a worry until you actually have it physically in your hand! In my case, I was told by one of the customer services team that my renewal application was uncomplicated…so goodness knows where it is in the queue now!
Good LifeParticipantHi everyone. I am also an overseas applicant (EU). I have been following the forums for several weeks now.
My timeline is as follows :
“Application submitted” online 12:19 28th April 2022
“Application received” 12:19 28th April 2022
(Old passport posted on 29th April and tracked as received by HMPO Durham on 4th May 2022)
“Documents received” 15:48 24th May 2022
I was half hoping that once the documents received stage has been reached that everything will be plain sailing however it just seems to be sitting there (I appreciate that there are others who have been or are in a much worse situation).
Any advice or reassurance would be very grateful from anyone reading my post.
Would anyone know what the next step is likely to be…and roughly how long? Also, if there is any liklihood of going straight to the application acceptance stage from the documents received stage ?
It’s tough not being eligible for fast track. Also even tougher having to bear the brunt of an extended Bank Holiday weekend. -
