That is worrying and meanwhile can’t seem to get it back quickly to go fast route – they are a mess

HLK – how does the fast track work if/when you have a passport in the system (approved like you say). I stand to lose a lot of money at the end of april if I don’t have passport – Im happy to pay the fasttrack fee if i have to but dont have my current passport with me to take to fast track to get my passport?

Gary42 – how do you collect direct from TNT? Which depot do you need to get from and how do you know?

    Any experience?

passport applied for on 12th March
Documents received 22nd March (16th tracker showed received)

Phoned on 25th March – told that couple of minor queries on checking wrt photo but assigned an examiner to check/confirm

The question I have is that I have no status update etc. for my application – am i in processing and they have not updated and it will be weeks or am I one of the ones where approval may take 5+ days as machine picked up slight photo issues.

What I can’t understand is if to examiner on Friday, why am I still only documents received on my tracker status – a second call suggested it might be quicker than 4-5 weeks because it has been assigned an examiner and is not waiting to go….

I am confused as to whether I am now in a very long queue and can kiss goodbye to holiday at the end of April or it might be sooner as examiner is assigned and why no status on my tracker?

    Thanks

Just rang passport office again – adviser said the following – useful if others have similar experience

My application and photo got flagged by auto imager but nothing major and that it has been appointed an examiner rather than sitting in a queue waiting to be appointed. She seemed to think this might help quicken the process as the appointment can be a lengthy stage – she therefore suggested it might not be a 5 week wait for me…

Never sure whether they are just making you less anxious or telling you the truth – as I still have no text/email saying in process/approved although I know it was appointed an examiner earlier today.

    Any similar experiences?

it is self booked and more the disappointment on already cancelling twice due to covid these past 2 years – so annoyed didn’t get renewed then but the issue 10 year validity never crossed my mind – was focussed only on date of expiry

So upset by the examiner thing as couldn’t go and get professional photo as I had covid. Now kicking myself re:fast track…. but its the taking day off to travel from Hamsphire to any of the offices which made it impossible and I foolishly thought 6 weeks would be enough!

Just got through and very worried about what I heard as diff from what many on this site say

    1) All applications go to an examiner after multiple automatic checks – i have a couple on my photo but the phone bloke doesn’t see a problem (one I have aged in 10 years!!)

    2) No one goes straight to approved in a few days – examiners sign everything off

    3) It takes about 5 weeks from documents being received to you getting a passport (if you are lucky)

    4) Mine should be with me early May

I am concerned as that is too late for my late April holiday – only had to get passport renewed because brexiting means you now to have less than 10 years on passport not 3/6 months left to run – my expires November but was issued 10 years ago in April!!

I am very stressed and will probably cancel holiday as it seems I have no chance of passport arriving, although he said examiner might sign it off Monday bt unlikely – I dont understand as it seems that many of this site get approved days after documents arrive and he seemed to suggest this isn’t possible as examiner has to sign off them all!!

    Hi Isabel,

Did you get texts/emails on it moving through the system and in sequence or dod the documents arrived and approved appear at same time – When did your documents actually arrive at passport offices – the application received, documents being delivered and them saying they have them seems to be a long and variable step.

    thanks

Im new to this site and worried in hearing all your stories. Ive been caught by the passport needs to not be more than 10 years since issue before travel – Realised last week that issued in April even though it expires in late November. Travelling out to Italy on 25th April and 10 year since issue on 24th… didn’t want to risk it so have applied for renewed passport – fingers crossed.

People here talk about ringing and speaking to people whom can help sometimes…. what is the number you ring and what are best times to ring? I either have a gnarl number whom seem to suggest they tell you nothing or a number I can’t get through on – useful to have a number to Liverpool which might be useful.

    Thanks
