Hi Jezzreal, sorry you are having a similar experience. Not sure where you live, but I travelled to Belfast regularly before covid as FIL lives Newry and you don’t need a passport if are in the UK as its classed as internal flight, same with Newquay, not sure if you live in UK? Just may be another excuse for them not to issue… good luck, hope you get yours soon 🙂

It seems people are having different experiences….I applied for my sons first passport 13 weeks ago via post office digital check and send. Documents put on their system 03/05.
I asked for it to be expedited once I was over 10 weeks on 30/06, was given the email address and told me NOT to put my travel date in (22/08) as they would reject as not in 2 weeks time but they would consider as over 10 weeks and would hopefully at least get it looked at, rcvd auto reply straight away. Rcvd a reply 3/06 to say they have forwarded my application details to one of our examination teams to progress as soon as possible…heard nothing to date! Most people seem to hear back quite quickly so iv thought there was an issue.
When I tracked my application at exactly 12 weeks (what they class as 10 weeks as docs rcvd/put on system),it advertises that you are eligible to expedite but only if you travel in next 2 weeks. I’ve emailed upgrade as I’m willing to pay to get it, no reply. Spent hours on the phone being passed around to eventually be told by progress team that it definitely hadn’t been expedited and that they won’t expedite until 2 weeks before travel, confirmed it had not been picked up by an examiner, no updates since 03/05, that’s it’s not a guaranteed service and that even if I go to a passport office 48hrs before with proof of our holiday, still may not get it. I have been waiting for 3 call backs from customer service management team, supposed to be in 48hours nothing. Anyone I have spoken to cannot help. Have highlighted my experience to MP, But he just sent a generic letter to HMPO and won’t expect a reply for 20 working days. We are hoping that we will be able to move our holiday to next year as I fear it will not arrive and we will lose all our money.

Thank you NS2022 for the number. I will use this if I get to the 10 week mark.

I asked on webchat, had to keep refreshing page till it said advisers available, I then just put my name and email in. It then takes you to a page that said waiting for an adviser, had to wait 10mins for an adviser.

Thank you Djbane, it was a previous post of yours that explained the digital and manual route.
At the post office I provided my passport number (since had a new one applying 10days after) and sons full birth certificate but when I tracked, there is a link for ‘what you need to send’ and this also asks for mine or dads birth certificate… not been asked for this and webchat just say nothing outstanding, waiting for examiner and they may ask for more info. I’ve ordered my full birth certificate just incase but won’t come till 15/6. Thanks again.

Hi Sair Angela, I am a week behind you for my son’s first passport application, applied via post office digital check and send 19/04 (they took the photo and it tells them if its good), provided my passport no (I’ve applied for a new one since that was delivered in just over 3wks) and his full birth certificate. Documents rcvd 3/5 and again 6/5, then went to processing stage 8/5 and been there ever since.
Unfortunately, I can’t offer any advice, I have managed to get on the web chat as I was worried that as I have a new passport no it may affect the application and I also didn’t know what passport office it was sent to (found out Durham). It is apparently waiting for an examiner and they have warned me that they could ask for more info. I have ordered my full birth certificate via GRO as my local registry office won’t issue birth certificates for passports just in case. I’ve not tried to call them as we don’t travel till August but we have just paid for the holiday and need to submit his passport details 2 weeks prior. If mine gets to 10 weeks, I’m emailing my MP as the webchat seems to be able to tell you no more info than what is on tracking. Hope you get your passport issue sorted.

Just wanted to share my experience of 3 passport renewals (I have a 4th 1st child passport that’s stuck in processing state after applying 19/04)
    18/5 approved, 19/5 printed, 23/5 delivered (DHL)
    20/5 approved, 24/5 printed, 25/5 delivered (TNT)
    30/5 approved, 1/6 printed, 6/6 delivered (TNT)
I didn’t get any tracking for TNT or DHL till the day, but as a previous poster said, you can track TNT, just take PEX Off the numbers.

Good question. I have been lurking on various forums/facebook pages for a couple of weeks to try to fathom what processing means. Does it definitely mean there’s an issue or just sat on someone’s desk waiting to be looked at physically. I’ve had 3 renewals go through in 3 weeks each from application (29/04,03/5,12/5) at post office digital check and send to being delivered. All went straight from docs received then to approved so all processed digitally. I applied for my son’s passport 19/04 via post office digital check and send…. been processing since 08/05. I’ve been told no issue so far, nothing outstanding; however, once it is looked at by an examiner, they may ask for more info. I was told the 10 weeks is from docs rcvd which conflicts to what others have been told by HMPO on screenshots posted.

My partners was similar timeframe to yours: approved 30/5, printed 01/06 and delivered today by TNT. We didn’t get any notification till this morning but I had been on the tnt passport tracking over the weekend, put in his pex no without the pex bit and t said it would be delivered today.

I applied for my sons first passport 19/4, I received a text to confirm documents received 03/05, then same text 06/5. Looking on forums, it may mean that it has been passed to a different office. My sons application updated 8/5 to say it was being processed and has stayed that way since. Apparently it is waiting for an examiner, 7 weeks this week since applied via post office digital check and send. I hope you get sorted in time for your trip.
