I got a call back from the upgrade team last week. Not sure if it was coincidence but i sent several chasers everyday, put smiley faces 🙂 in the subject header and some of these asterisks **** around my travel date to get their attention.
I also sent the same email 3 times in a row one after the other, so they stood out in the upgrade inbox.

Thank you so much for your help, I so appreciate it. Did you report it as lost online? If so, does it just go through automatically or does someone have to contact you to confirm it?

So I sent a letter off signed recorded delivery (will arrive tomorrow morning) requesting that the application be cancelled and my daughter’s old passport be returned.
Realistically when will they withdraw the application and return the passport?
If its been 3 weeks and I’ve not had the passport back and/or they’ve not withdrawn the application, can I report the passport as lost?

Thank you. Did you state that it had been lost in transit when you submitted the lost report online?
How long did it take them to confirm the withdrawal of the application?
Sorry for all the questions, I’m so anxious about this. Its all I can think about at the moment.

Thanks so much for this. Just to clarify, were you able to log your passport as lost, even though the passport office had it already? I was told by the advice line that I couldn’t do that.
