Your case sounds similar to mine.. we are due to travel of the 17th June and our six weeks was two days before we travel…if I remember right we applied for my 8 year old sons renewal on the 5th May.

For us after a two week period where nothing was moving for our digital app and I was getting prepped to either cancel or change our booking altogether as that had to be done within 14days of travel….so literally this week…so a big worry

Thankfully sons passport came in the post yesterday. So for us it took less than four weeks altogether and that included sending the birth certificate seperately too…..but it was still stressful after prepping myself from the stories on here

I know its not helpful but hope they can progress for you anyway. We may have been very lucky and hope it goes the same for you

We dont fly until the 17th June and we put in sons renewal on the 5th May – Currently waiting on them to receive sons birth certificate which has just sat there for two weeks now in that state

I did try the MP route but he just quoted the 10 week statement from HMPO so that was a waste of time in my case

I think we will have to change our fly dates to 15th July and hope we get before then

We will have to pay a lot of money but its the only option I can think of

Our 6 weeks is two days before we fly so I just cant see it happening so we will probably wait until 1st or 2nd of June to see if there is any progress and if not we will have to re-arrange

That’s the position I’m in at the moment I’m waiting for them to recieve the birth certificate of my sons renewal

They received it from royal mail about a week ago and I’m getting nervous now ….we fly on the 17th June

That’s what I am doing today….literally have a certified birth certificate copy ready to send along with a back up letter from my partner (mother) just in case they have an issue with the certificate

I have it in an envelope ready to send today

As far as I know the real original birth certificate sits in an official government store so all we can get is certified copies….I maybe wrong but I had my partner searching the house last night and all we have is certified copies ..we bought 4 at the time of the birth signing.

They won’t accept photo copies as far as I know but I think certified copies are good

Well I’ve made a cock up …i don’t fly till 17th June so hope there is time yet…didn’t send my boys birth certs with the passport….now I am starting to panic a bit…will be sending again recorded delivery tommorrow

Hi all – we are due to fly on the 17th June for a week in Crete and realized today that my sons passport expires on 5th July 22.
Im reading this forum for tips and advice really so its really useful to know this might be a very stressful month or so ahead!

The 1 week fast track service was down most of today – its up as we speak now but no appointments until 20th May and they are in London – Im in Swansea and Newport isnt even listed at the moment.

So Ive had to do something today so submitted my online renewal for him today. I will post his passport tomorrow by Special Delivery and then hope for the best.

Thanks for any tips – I can see this going down to the wire and have already priced up how much this will cost to cancel the trip altogether
Just hope they can do it!

Cool thats brilliant – I was going to do the paper application – I think I may do myself at home as that much easier
