Another day goes by with no update. But I did receive a reply from the passport office to the first email I sent on Feb 22nd saying my passport is currently being looked at and they will be in touch if they need anything else.
I feel like I’m banging my head against a brick wall. And still nothing from the progress team.
Application submitted 7th February 2.04pm
Application received 7th February 2.05pm
Documents received 18th February 2.45pm
Application processing 21st February 9.31amlauraf1991ParticipantSo pleased for you bettydove1! I rang again this morning and got nowhere. I’m still waiting for the progress team to call.
Hope it arrives in time!
lauraf1991ParticipantI just called the office again and was told that my passport was actually seen by an examiner on the 21st February and is waiting for print. Which isn’t what my application says at all so I’m very confused.
If that is the case it’s been waiting 2 weeks to be printed rather than 2 weeks in processing. Honestly I’m so confused by this entire system.
lauraf1991ParticipantI bet any money that now I’ve cancelled my flights my passport is approved tomorrow.
Just looked in the Peterborough office chat and lots of people saying 2 weeks. Just my luck to get the slow office. I did ask if you can transfer offices and apparently that’s only in special cases.
lauraf1991ParticipantIf you’re travelling mid-April and don’t want the stress I’d say do what we are all now unable to do. Recall your passports and make in person appointments.
lauraf1991ParticipantI just had a call with a lovely lady called Karen who confirmed there are delays. And advised that she thinks it’s unlikely I will get my passport next week. She wouldn’t say why, just that it was very busy.
Progress team apparently can’t do anything so I’m going to cancel my flights.
lauraf1991ParticipantChelsea91 – it’s honestly ridiculous that they don’t seem to have a system to fast track people who are calling them on a daily basis. I have my fingers crossed for you!
lauraf1991ParticipantMine has been processing for 10 days today – simple renewal, no changes. I called again as I’ve not had a callback from Sunday and added a note to the file to say tomorrow is the last day I can cancel and get a refund on my flight.
The latest it could be approved and sent for me would be Monday to make sure I have it in time for my Thursday flight. I’m really not holding out much hope as Liverpool does seem slower.
lauraf1991ParticipantI’ve sent them an email with my flight details attached as well as they haven’t called me back as they promised to do – it definitely feels like there’s a delay in Liverpool. Lots of the other offices are moving more quickly seemingly.
Hopefully we will all get our answers soon.
lauraf1991ParticipantChelsea91 – I’ve given in. I couldn’t even get an appointment in England before Thursday if I wanted to, so it really will depend on whether or not it gets processed this week.
The thing that makes me cross is they obviously can approve them in a week. It just depends which pile yours is on and clearly mine (and yours) is in the slow pile. My sister chased and eventually got somewhere but it took her 2 weeks, which I just don’t have.
Will post when I hear anything.
lauraf1991ParticipantChelsea91 – you have a really similar timeline to me. Mine is an adult renewal as well at Bootle.
Application submitted 7 Feb 2.04pm
Application received 7 Feb 2.05pm
Documents received 18 Feb 2.45pm
Application being processed 21 Feb 9.31amI fly on the 11th March so I called today to find out what is happening. Apparently nothing and they can’t tell me how long it will take to process. They suggested as I’m flying next week I could try a lost passport in person appointment. But the only ones available in England are in Liverpool on Thursday. And it is just to far to drive and another £144. Any appointment after that and there is no guarantee it will come back in time.
So I’m stuck and guess I just have to leave the family reunion up to fate!
