@Eaglel Congratulations!
@paigebates91 I didn’t qualify as I haven’t been waiting for six weeks! But luckily they did it anyway. Can’t relax until we collect the passports today.More stress with news of easyJet cancelling flights. I feel cursed!
marylondonParticipant@tictarry33 When are you travelling?
marylondonParticipant@eaglel You are right, the order is not fair. I applied later than you. But once you get someone on the case they are very helpful. It’s just so stressful as its last minute.
I would sy to get to a passport office tomorrow and get there early. You qualify for an upgrade so should be allocated someone to help you.
marylondonParticipant@eaglel I applied through post office and application was sent to Durham. We are flying at 6am Sunday and didn’t get call till late this afternoon. So fingers crossed you hear tomorrow.
We were prepared to go to Durham to collect, but they said it was fine and could print in London. (This was the opposite to what the last on the. desk in London told me this morning – They are just trying to get rid of people!)
I would recommend emailing Durham again with RESENT in subject line.
marylondonParticipantI have had a day.
I arrived at London at. 6.30am to join queue, there were about 7 people in front of me. The lady first in the queue got there at 4am.
The doors opened at 8am and I spoke to someone at 9am. She looked up applications, called Durham and said I didn’t qualify, there was nothing I could do and my application probably wouldn’t be processed in time(Travel 6am Sunday)
So holiday was not happening. Felt very upset, but at a loss.
Then at 3pm, my husband called me, someone from Durham had called him, promised to help and was absolutely amazing. He found one son and husbands application and said they would be ready to collect from London tomorrow morning. But other sons application was lost. We emailed post office receipts and communication was fab, lots of phone calls and encouragement. Eventually all applications located! we paid upgrade fee and shortly after received an email to say passports could be collected from London tomorrow.
such a rollercoaster!
marylondonParticipant@Londonben OOh that’s interesting.Thank you so much for the information. I will be within 48 hours of travel tomorrow morning! So perhaps I will try the London office first. Ill do same as you and get there very early, How many people were in front of you in queue when you arrived at 6.45am? I could head to Peterborough if I have no luck.
On my initial phone call to passport office I was advised to contact and send evidence to Durham. As I sent all the evidence in the initial email I haven’t received a separate request. Just an acknowledgement that they know im travelling Sunday and not to contact them again (as if!)
marylondonParticipant@passportwoes I will do!
marylondonParticipantI too do not meet the criteria for the six weeks, but am planning on going to Peterborough tomorrow morning. As far as I can tell from reading online, London don’t have an enquiries queue at Passport office, so they won’t let you speak to anyone (You can only get in if you are collecting passport).
We are due to fly Sunday morning, wedding is on Monday. I think chances aren’t great, but I’m going to give it a go, Ill kick myself if I don’t.
The only acknowledgement I got re upgrade was the automated response saying my date of travel has been noted. I am heartened that no news is good news and I haven’t been refused yet!
marylondonParticipant@Gemzy Thank you. Yes, I think I’ll give Peterborough a go on Friday morning. Although, your application was submitted well before mine! But I’ll try it! Thank so much
marylondonParticipantMy nearest passport office is London, but lots of people saying you can’t get in there without an appointment. Is the London office different to the others?
Can I ask when you first submitted your application?
marylondonParticipantI applied for my husband and two children passports on 9th May, we are due to travel on Sunday (I know, I know!)
I had previously tried for three weeks to get an appointment to no avail and pretty much resigned myself to the holiday not happening and posted of applications in the hope we would get them back in time to travel for the summer holidays.
Then, last week, someone mentioned the upgrade service! My hopes were raised again and I decided to give it a bash! I emailed all Information to the Durham address, and put a note on there that I was prepared to travel to any passport office in the country to collect. Obviously, I don’t qualify for an upgrade as application not six weeks old, but the last I spoke to said discretion would be used and there was a chance.
Had a call yesterday from passport office. I still don’t know why, she took all my info and said there was no update. I asked her why she had called me and she said there was a note in the system to call me???
I don’t know what to think at this stage. I am prepared to pay any amount of money and travel anywhere. Is it worth calling, e-mailing? Turning up at passport office (my nearest is London Victoria). Any advice appreciated. Equally, if anyone wants to tell me to stop dreaming and I am def not going on holiday, I will take that too!
