For anyone needing an update I would recommend calling this number which will take you directly through to the progress team – 0300 105 0850

    Hi gi81

Thanks so much for this tip. I did this last night out of desperation and if I’m honest not really expecting it to work, but woke up this morning to ‘application approved!’

So it’s now in the queue for the examiner. All being well with your application the next notification will be ‘application approved’. Has yours been on ‘documents received’ for very long?

@ennevive I sent in another birth certificate for my son that was confirmed delivered by Royal Mail on 23rd May. We were told to give them a couple of weeks to get it scanned on the system, so I was expecting to have to call tomorrow to ensure they have it as you don’t get a ‘documents received’ notification for additional docs, but we received confirmation this morning that it’s been approved! I’m so happy as originally applied 20th March, but now the end is in sight (although I don’t want to jinx it!)
One thing I did do after reading a post on here yesterday was complete the survey on the website as it has been suggested that many people have had approvals following this. I didn’t expect it to work and it might just be a coincidence, but I would say now that it’s definitely worth a go! If you go to the page where you enter the PEX number to track the progress the option to complete the survey is there. No need to put in your email address at the end either.
When did you send in your birth certificate?

@keycolgirl do you know it was received from Royal Mail or could HMPO see it on the system? You are lucky as they have responded to you a lot quicker. We didn’t get the request for additional info until 7 weeks after their notification that documents were received (2.5 weeks after Royal Mail confirmed)
The thing is you get a different answer from each person you speak to each time you call. We may not get a notification, but once scanned into the system the progress team should be able to see the record has been updated (the won’t see the document).
I did get told additional documents get pushed to the front of the queue but I don’t want to get my hopes up in case that was just a fob off too, but yes definitely not expecting anything to happen for a few weeks. Good luck ladies!!

We submitted 20th March – I definitely think Feb & March were worst months to apply.
I’m hoping we will get a notification to say additional documents received in the next week or so. Just want to know they’ve got it and it’s in the system, but I don’t know if you get a notification when they are additional? I think some people have and some haven’t.
Fingers crossed all will be received in time 🙂

Yes, beginning of August. We have under 10 weeks, but I don’t think I can handle the stress of going right to the wire. I couldn’t risk disappointing the kids last minute and losing the holiday. Will see if/how things progress and make a call end June/beginning of July. That gives us 6 weeks so praying there is movement in that time! Are you beginning or end of august? An extra couple of weeks could make all the difference!

    Hi
I sent additional info in that arrived at the Bootle office yesterday (confirmed by Royal Mail not HMPO). I’m not sure if they notify us when it’s additional documents received and dreading having to wait as long as first time round for them to acknowledge/approve.
On Friday before posting I was told to phone up and give the tracking number once delivered so someone could locate it in the post room, so called up yesterday only to be told that won’t happen as they don’t have the man power. Can’t believe I fell for that one…feel like such an idiot!!!
Let’s hope they are quicker this time round. Feels like the stress will never end.

That’s great news! It’s usually quite quick after approval but you could call the progress team just to check as they may be able to give you a tracking number – 0300 105 0850. Good luck!!!

Oh LAD, I am seriously gutted for you! Today I have received my old passport and marriage certificate but my birth certificate is missing!!!!!!! I am fuming. I too am at my wits end. Going to log another complaint form too! They are going to have to reissue so many documents. To go straight through to the progress team call 0300 105 0850. I’ve been on hold now for about 30 mins (possibly longer). Will let you know if I get through!

    Hi there

I receive my passport on 14th April and I have not received my old passport or supporting documents back yet either…it’s painfully slow!

We’ve have two applications at two different offices for first child passports and they were on ‘documents received’ for 6 weeks. They approved one on 13th May and today have queried documentation for the other – requesting a full birth certificate which is what I sent in but has been logged on the system in error as a short version. When did you apply?

@jcshrimpton these two applications are with Bootle and Glasgow. The application that went to Glasgow has been approved, the issue is with the Bootle office. So have you sent a short version of your son’s birth certificate? If you sent a covering letter to explain hopefully everything will be ok for you.
I don’t have short versions of my children’s birth certificates so it would be impossible for me to send them. The reason they need the full versions is because they state the parents names. Did you send any other documents with the birth certificate? I have to call them again tomorrow so I will let you know what they say. Keeping everything crossed they can just amend the error on their system and the application can then progress. We are 8 weeks today. How long have you been waiting?
