Had to cancel my trip. Now in the dreaded processing stage (since 18th March) and not yet been assigned an examiner.

For the benefit of everyone here – if you want to change your picture and as such renew early – they will question it and there will be delays. I would’ve thought they could make a new mechanism for picture changes but no that would make too much sense

Got through to the Liverpool office this morning… my passport has bounced around to three different offices because I renewed early (I wanted the picture changed). Then had this dreaded update afterwards…

Application being processed 11:42am on 18 March 2022
    Documents received 9:38am on 10 March 2022
    Application received 8:59pm on 2 March 2022
    Application submitted 8:59pm on 2 March 2022

I’m not feeling very hopeful that I’ll get it for the 4th April, considering it hasn’t been automatically approved like others have.

Anyone know the number for the Bootle office? Assuming it’s different to the Liverpool office?

How long have people waited for call backs? Clock is ticking…

So my partners new passport arrived today. Mine is still at the “documents received” stage and has been since 10th March. We both applied and sent our old passports on the same day, to the same passport office. I just don’t understand why there’s such a big difference?

I’m waiting for a call back… was told within 24 hours but we will see lol

Had a notification (email/text) to say my old passport had been received on the 10th March. Today, I had another notification saying the exact same thing… anyone else get multiple notifications at the same stage? I worry my passport has been rescanned or sent somewhere else.

My partners old passport was also received on the same day and has already been set to approved/printing. I really don’t understand their order of working

Sunshine – I enquired about this today. You have to send a letter to the same address you sent your old passport to, outlining your application number and reason for cancellation. You won’t get a refund. Your documents probably won’t be returned quick enough (that’s what I was told – im travelling 4th April).

Also, the advisor strongly advised waiting until the old passport returns before going to a fast track appointment. Reporting a passport as lost, when it isn’t actually lost, could be considered fraud and getting caught doing that would arguably be worse than missing a holiday! Not what people want to hear I know but I think it’s the bitter truth here

Called the passport advice line today. The lady seemed to think I might get my passport before 4th April given the wait time was 4 weeks when I applied on 2nd march.

I asked if I could cancel and fast track and she said waiting for the old passport to be returned would take too long. Understandably she didn’t have anything to say about reporting it as lost. My documents aren’t even marked as received yet so I’m doubtful but I guess all I can do is wait

How can I recall the documents? Is there a form I need to fill out somewhere or is it just a case of phoning them?

Hi all, applied for an adult renewal on 3rd March. Sent off my old passport the next day (to the Bootle office).

I’m going away on the 4th of April… realistically what are my chances? Average on here says 20.92 days so based on that I should be fine but from the things I’ve read here, I’m thinking I’ve made a terrible mistake.

Could I fast track at the last minute if it comes to that – anyone successfully done it?
