It really varies. Less than a week, sometimes 2-3weeks (I’ve recently made 3 applications).
Pickles22ParticipantIt *should* do but I think it really depends on where you are in the country and local TNT staffing; and, whether the passport is being printed centrally or locally (ie at an application centre). Our child’s first passport was only printed yesterday PM and arrived today..literally within 24hrs! With our child renewal it was 3 days from printing (26/03) to receiving (29/03). I’m not sure what else you can do other than call the passport office again. Really hope you get something on the TNT tracker soon. I can imagine how stressful this is!
Pickles22ParticipantNo, application put in on 6th March, took a while for docs to be recorded as received (16th March) then approved on 18th.
Pickles22ParticipantThank you for your replies. I’m pleased to say the child renewal has been approved, just waiting for printing.
Pickles22ParticipantSo, my passport has arrived a day earlier than expected! 8 working days from them notifying of receiving my old passport. I checked the TNT tracker this morning and it said out for delivery but didn’t want to update here until it actually dropped through my letterbox, which it now has.
There are clearly some delays in the system though as the two other applications I’ve made on the same day with paperwork signed for (according to Royal Mail) on the same date (now 8 working days ago, excl Sat & Sun):
– One child renewal has only just had the old passport marked as received.
– One first child still is saying send documents!Pickles22ParticipantMy passport was dispatched yesterday (updated via email at 1800) and I was able to track via TNT this morning. It says it’s being delivered on 19th (Sat). When you get to the TNT bit after putting application ref in, click on the box and it goes to the delivery date (I didn’t know to do this first time round so it looked blank).

First time Child Passport (within UK) #9721Pickles22ParticipantNo experience but my only advice would be to try and speak to someone at the passport office. If they’re no help, I don’t know whether your consulate could help? Even if it means seeing if they could issue an emergency Canadian passport. Fingers crossed for you.
