If that includes getting the old passport back. You’d be screwed if your old passport has a visa in it.
It was taking almost 4 weeks in March for them to mark as received at Durham. I think the problem is they have 100k passport divided in big bins for each day. I’ve no idea how they could even locate a passport to expedite it once you’ve sent it in. It’s most likely they have, but may take a while.
From US it took about 6 weeks, but that was from March 1st. I believe some private agencies might be able to do it more quickly in the uk ?
I think they actually really mean it could be 14-15 weeks since takes 3-4 weeks to get docs into system, then 1-2 weeks for delivery. Be warned.
Durham also take all the international passports, so it maybe even more massively backed up. I believe mine was almost 3 weeks back until they showed up online in March. I would make sure you send the documents using a traceable delivery.
Finally traceable via DHL. Oddly it is showing starting at LHR, although print is in Durham. I believe the lost 7 days may well be TNT delivering it to DHL. Another part of the process which adds on an extra week not mentioned anywhere.
At Durham mine was about 3 weeks when I sent it at beginning of March. If it’s gone a month I would call them. Did you have the delivery tracked so you can prove somewhat they have it ? I think things have got a lot more backlogged at this point though.

DHL has a tracking page, but you’d need to figure out if that’s who was used. I’d also try to understand what they mean by fast – mine was printed 7 days ago and I’m still unable to track. Nothing about hmpo is fast.
If it involves them sending it back by a courier I’d add another week or two on to that estimate. They are supposed to send international by DHL but zero after 7 days.
Anyone had experience with time line of hmpo shipping printed passport international via DHL. Mine was printed a week ago but unable to track via DHL.
It would surely show online that they have mailed it ? After waiting over 3 weeks for them to even acknowledge they received my old passport I would recommend doing renewal in person if at all possible. As you note it impossible to contact them in any meaningful way.
Yup – delivered on March 7th, so now almost 3 weeks with no acknowledgement from Durham. Seems like the system is breaking down…
Documents delivered on March 7th by DHL, no acknowledgement, so now over 14 days. Impossible to contact them. I would do it in person if I ever did it again.
