Hi guys
Some positive news….
2 child overseas renewals submitted 9 March
Both received 19 March
Both processed 20 MarchWe live in Oman and these were sent some time ago. We had issues in that we need the passports possibly to be repatriated and also we are moving to Malaysia so they are needed for.immigration issues.
I emailed some time back, called and was told usual about No Staff and covid19 etc.. I then called again and explained our stresses. I also sent a message via Twitter- this works
I was messaged via Twitter and told to contact Liverpool passport office via email saying why we need passports and proof of our move to Malaysia.
Did that 6 days ago.
Today I had an email saying passports approved and will be sent out. Our only issue now is we are.in lockdown and only 1 flight a week with post! But at least they are coming.I would advise contacting passport office via Twitter
Send a DM to them. It does work.shazzalatsParticipantHey guys…
Glad to hear some of you are a bit further down the lane. My post is further back on the forum. 2 kids renewals from OVERSEAS were received on 19 March and processed 20 March. I’ve sent emails, made phone calls and also emailed Liverpool passport office direct stating the urgency of requiring passports due to repatriation under lockdown. We are also relocating overseas and need passports for onward immigration. We are not wanting them for a holiday. It’s urgent!Been 8 weeks and still waiting on a response…amazingly, the Foreign Office in London which is closed has provisionally certified documents we required within 2 hours! But passport office just don’t respond!
I’ve been advised to get local MP back home involved.
shazzalatsParticipantJust had a reply from Liverpool passport office….
Thank you for contacting regarding the passport applications for your children.
At this present time, we can only prioritise urgent compassionate applications (usually where there has been a death or serious illness and need to travel has arose).
I can give no timescale at present as we have no idea of this ourselves as the situation is constantly changing.
They go on to suggest that we use emergency travel documents for repatriation flight next month and to provide evidence of our relocation from Oman to Malaysia and the urgency of the boys passports for immigration purposes.
At least I’ve had a human reply and not an automated one!
shazzalatsParticipantWell at last I’ve had an email from the passport office saying my request for boys passports to be speeded up has been sent to Liverpool.
My post is further up the thread. Basically renewals of 2 kids passports since March 19th we are overseas and need passports for emergency repatriation and onward relocation overseas. A messy and incredibly stressful situation.
Hoping someone will reply with positive news.
Also had the automated message AGAIN saying do not contact them.
Will keep you updatedThanks
SharonshazzalatsParticipantHi everyone
I called the passport office yesterday and they could only advise with a little laugh that it may take a couple of months. They said no staff working in many offices and they are only dealing wirh government/diplomat renewals and life/death and emergency issues. I’m actually quite upset as we are going to be repatriated from Oman next month probably and without the children’s passports, we are unable to get our immigration paperwork sorted for our move to Malaysia.i sent the passport office a DM via Twitter and they responded with a standard reply. I then replied back saying not acceptable and that i’d heard of people getting passports renewed in UK within WEEKS. I was asked to email the Liverpool passport office with all my details and the urgency and they may take it forward.
Will keep you posted
Thanks Grantham Traveller for phone number.
shazzalatsParticipantCan someone provide me with a number to call from OVERSEAS please?
shazzalatsParticipantWe live overseas in Oman, submitted online 2 kids passports for renewal on 9 March. They were received at passport office on 19 March and processed on 20th according to online tracking.
We have 2 issues, we are due to be relocating to Malaysia in August and passports required urgently to process immigration and visas paperwork – also the FCO is not processing papers so another delay.
Also, it’s likely we will have to be repatriated out of Oman in next few weeks. My husband is a teacher and online teaching has been cancelled here so current employer trying to assist with moving us on.
So obviously we can’t fly anywhere with no kids passports.
Annoyingly, husband sent his passport for renewal about 2 weeks before kids and got his within a week!
I don’t want to use emergency passport and find kids passports being sent to Oman when we have left! -
