When I had to send additional documents in my application was approved a week after it was received according to Royal Mail tracking. They are definitely much quicker at opening additional documents in my experience. This was at the Durham office
June 11, 2022 at 9:03 am in reply to: How long after documents received will the next update happen? #17236wanting3ParticipantI don’t think calling necessarily means it will go into processing. I had a not put on my sons application to link it to mine to share documents and it never went into processing. I phoned twice and had a call back.

wanting3ParticipantThat’s great news. Hope it gets sorted quickly for you. They do seem to be progressing things pretty quick at the moment
wanting3ParticipantCaz, hopefully it will arrive. Tnt are definitely the worse for updating tracking. It’s really frustrating but until it’s at your local depot it won’t be trackable. It’s likely the first tracking you will get is from dhl when it’s out for delivery.
wanting3ParticipantNot that I’m aware of. The first time I rang up I was told the same as you. I then tried again the next day and spoke to someone much more helpful. She took all my details and arranged a call back. I was called 24 hours later I believe you can ask to be put through when you speak to an advisor or just ask to have a call back. The problem with the advisors on the phone is that they can’t access your application and some are more helpful than others.
wanting3ParticipantHi, I did. I spoke to the progress team on Monday who said they will add a note to try and link them but might not be able to as mine had already been approved. Apparently a certain time after approval they move the data to another system so they can’t link documents and applications. They said if they couldn’t I would still be required to send in the document once I received it back. Luckily I got a text on Tuesday to say the application had been approved so I assume they managed to link them. Passport arrived today. My advice would he speak to the progress team as they were really helpful and could actually see my applications. There was no need to send a cover letter. Hopefully yours gets resolved too
wanting3ParticipantErb, from what others have said if you have been told the documents were received twice its usually because it’s been transferred internally to another office. For my 3 which were sent to Durham they stayed at documents received for about 3 weeks before being approved. Hopefully yours won’t be much longer
wanting3ParticipantCaz I only got a text on the morning my passport was due to be delivered which was 2 days after it was printed. Both dhl and tnt were used to deliver mine and out of the 3 only 1 tracking number was updated.it only seems to work once it’s been received at the depot which is typically the night before it’s due ti be delivered. Hopefully it arrives tomorrow for you
wanting3ParticipantI very much doubt you would be seen 2 weeks before. Typically people are only being seen 48 hours before their flight. What status are your applications at?
wanting3ParticipantMy application to Durham office was pretty quick. Original documents received 18th May (actually received 6th May but took a few days to appear on the system). Got an email on 20tj asking to send more documents which I did the following day and my application was approved on the 31st so pretty quick really. It will all depend on the office you sent it to but they typically will look at them within a couple of weeks of actually receiving them
wanting3ParticipantTry calling the main helpline number as soon as it opens. When I had an issue with one of my applications the second time I called they were really helpful and arranged for me to get a call back 24 hours later from someone who could help. I just used the number on the website then followed the prompts 3 then 8 I think. Calling should hopefully trigger them to look for the documents but they may ask you to report them as lost. The progress team were really helpful for me so they should be able to help you too.
wanting3ParticipantYou can go to your local office. As long as the documents have been scanned onto the system any office can see them.
June 7, 2022 at 8:00 pm in reply to: Travel within 2 weeks, not meeting deadline because of wring helpline advice!! #17052wanting3ParticipantI just rang the number that’s on the website and followed the prompts. Try calling when the lines open, I got through straight away. I asked to get a call back as they couldn’t give me any useful advice to my query. They noted everything down and I was called the next day and the application approved the day after. The problem you might have is that the documents need to be scanned in for them to process your application. Usually that happens within 2 weeks. Unfortunately until the tracker shows documents received they won’t be able to help. I think things are being processed a bit quicker now so hopefully they will be updated soon. I think in your case you will be best to go to your local passport office 48 hours before you fly. I’ve had only a positive experience from the upgrade team but others haven’t.
wanting3ParticipantMaccas5, yes I finally received mine today. I feel so relieved! One of my first child passports that was approved on Saturday got printed today, just waiting on another first child passport that was approved today. Hopefully will get all 3 within the next week. It’s been much more stressful than I would have liked!
June 7, 2022 at 3:02 pm in reply to: Travel within 2 weeks, not meeting deadline because of wring helpline advice!! #17024wanting3ParticipantIn my experience the staff at the call enter are useless! I only got anywhere by requesting a call back from the upgrade team who did call me 24 hours later. I’d say your best bet is to go to your nearest passport office 48 hours before. However, I do believe your documents do need to be sent and scanned into the system to be able to get anywhere. My documents took 12 days from actually being received until being scanned into the system. I’d send the passport and any other documents if required with a cover letter saying you no longer wish for you original application to be cancelled. I hope things get sorted for you
