From what they said to me, it is no issue transferring passports between offices if the applications had been done online
wb1979ParticipantJust needed the PEX number and proof of travel.
wb1979ParticipantLooks like mine has been sorted finally. The staff at Peterborough were lovely and after a horribly stressful few hours of waiting the lady called Glasgow for me and told me they would sort it today. I got a call from Glasgow about an hour later and have been told I can pick up the passport at 1:30. I won’t quite believe it until it is in my hands.
I really hope everyone else manages to get their passports. And if you were the Scottish lady who was trying to get her husband’s passport for a trip to America – let me know how you got on.
wb1979Participant@lkm1990 Also, they said if you applied online they should be able to transfer from another office but if it was by post that is more difficult.
wb1979Participant@lkm1990 Just turned up. In the queue now. I arrived about 7:45 and people were separated into those travelling in 48 hours and another queue. Probably 40-50 people in each queue.
wb1979ParticipantWell I’m off to Peterborough this morning as we travel on Wednesday. Fingers crossed.
wb1979Participant@kerend25 Do you know what office is dealing with it? You can call the passport advice line and find that out then email them directly. Mine was Glasgow at glasgowupgradeteam@hmpo.gov.uk but swap the location depending on where yours is. Include the name, DOB, reference number and attach proof of flight etc. You can also email expeditedservice@hmpo.gov.uk the same details.
Don’t expect to hear anything immediately but at least then the ball is rolling. Good luck, you still have plenty of time so I’m sure you will be ok.
wb1979ParticipantThank you.
My documents are in Glasgow but that is six hours away so I’m hoping that I’ll get somewhere just by going and waiting at Peterborough.
wb1979Participant@ka8888 Did you manage to get it sorted today? I’m planning on heading to Peterborough on Monday if I haven’t heard anything more.
wb1979ParticipantGreat news – what were the timescales on your case?
wb1979ParticipantEveryone going through this awful experience has my sympathies. The stress it causes is unbelievable. We applied for my son’s passport in April, the website says documents were recorded as received on the 22nd April, and our holiday starts on 7th July.
On the advice of the helpline I sent an email requesting an upgrade to the Glasgow office exactly two weeks before our holiday, and received a confirmation email the following day. Since then we have heard nothing and as the holiday approaches we are all getting increasingly anxious. I have contacted my MP who has confirmed that the upgrade is in place but I am still planning on attending the passport office in person next week if we have not heard anything by then.
Keeping fingers crossed for you all.
