It is actually not 3 weeks but 12 days as it’s taken the courier company (FDL) 9 days to deliver my documents from London.
The Pass Office service was excellent.
P. S. Don’t use FDL if you need to send important documents, they are a mess.

The old passport was tracked by Royal Mail to the office. It took 2 days from tracked delivery to receive acknowledgement that it had been received by HMPO. Approved the same day as they’d acknowledge receipt and received in the post the very next day.

Digital photo taken at Timpson which gets automatically uploaded for you, very easy online application process. Posted old passport day later using “signed for” postage. New passport received within five days of application and four of posting old passport. Notified at every stage via SMS of where my application was in the process, excellent service!

The only difficult bit was getting the photo right, their quality assessor code first said my head was tilted (almost imperceptible) and then complained about the colour of the photo (slightly red). Both easy to correct but it would have saved time to have things like this specified.
Overall how you can not be extremely impressed by the speed of return, incredible. A fantastic service from start to finish.
