Carried out an online application to be told 10 week waiting time. Booked a fast track service at Durham passport office. System took my money again only to attend the appointment to be told i could not use the service as my online application stands and it would mean i am applying for two passports per child. After saying this is ‘click of a button’ exercise to undo the online application i was told that was the case a few weeks prior and now the officer could not help. She did say keep hold of the passports and email Durham Upgrade department and pay even m ore money. After not getting through to anyone, having not one person return the call back option and hours wasted on the phone trying to find a solution having been told to keep hold of the passports. I was then told to send the off to the set offices. One child renewal went to Ireland and the other to Corby. Ireland were quick and effective, received and printed within 10 days and still currently waiting for Corby to sign for my sons renewal as still saying in transit with royal mail. I have contacted royal mail to be told the passport office have their own scanning system as they have bags of post…fills me with great hope! Its. not looking promising and I can say with my hand on my heart that the staff i have spoke with all contradict each other and say the systems have changed when this has been highlighted. Stressful beyond stressful for something so straight forward.

This child renewal was sent to the LIVERPOOL office by Special Delivery over the bank holiday weekend. Physically received Tuesday 3rd, opened and logged by them on Thursday 5th.
Received ahead of any notifications by TNT about tracking. I highly recommend using Special delivery for peace of mind. (We took our own digital photo on an iphone in a bright daylight room with a white sheet as background hung on the back of a door)

Had to ring many of times. Was given info, so I can email Liverpool upgrade team with proof of flight 2 weeks before and they rang me 6 days before to collect it at Peterborough. Queued for about an hour. Which I didn’t care I just wanted his passport in my hand. Such a relief. Good luck for anyone suffering the sleepless nights and stress that we have.

It took me a long time to get an appointment by checking for 1 week day and night, and had to travel 3 hours to passport office had a 4 minute appointment and 3 hours home again, but passport office delivered earlier than 7 days.
Hi everyone, I just thought I’d post my experience after following this forum for the past week. My partners passport has been stuck in the system for a simple renewal for 8 weeks. We are due to fly Tuesday 17th AM. I applied for fast track last Friday and had nothing back other than an automated email saying they have noted the date of travel and will be in touch. I called the processing team nearly everyday but never got any answers or a call from the upgrade team.
After seeing some people have success by visiting the passport office I told my partner to show his face and ask some questions in person at the Durham office with no appointment (this is where his old passport was)
Well yesterday he went and they put his passport to print with in minutes of meeting him! He waited one hour and returning with a passport!! No payment was needed either. It’s DEFINITELY worth going to your local passport office in person. Good luck everyone x
