The overall experience was pretty stressful. I received my passport two days before I was due to travel but this was after spend every day for several weeks calling the passport office. Their process is very slow, clunky and inconsistent. It doesn’t help that the passport office employees were very unhelpful, they weren’t able to tell me anything at any stage so you’re left just hoping it’ll turn up on time.

Incredibly stressfull process. Multiple calls to HMPO to be told different things. We even contacted our MP.

Finally got told after calling on 6th April we needed to write a letter explaning damage to the passport, as no-one had actually looked at the passport application by that point. We got told about the new upgrade process to get passport fast tracked as we were traveling within two weeks.

We got a call from HMPO to receive extra payment on the 11th and was accepted and sent to local print which was super speedy.

Adult renewal processed in Glasgow. Took a total of 6 Weeks, which was only 1 week over the predicted 5. There is approximately a two week delay between sending documents and them being marked as “Received”.

Whilst you may want to contact HMPO regarding the progress of your passport, as did I, its best not to unless 10 weeks has passed. They will offer no further information than what is already available to you on the tracker, so just be patient.

Docs recieved 04.04.22. Approved 07.04.22 Printed 11.04.22 TNT advised early on the 12th it would be delivered that day and it was. The TNT tracking was useless, i tried many times and nothing came up. Nevertheless it was delivered as promised so no problem. If it hadn’t I had little confidence in the APP being any use. All along the process you are in the dark until something happens. It seemed an age for them to acknowledge reciept of my old passport (10 days even though I sent recorded signed for. After that it all happened quite quickly. From then to delivery 8 days including a week end. Hope that helps.

I made four applications in Jan and have received 2 out of 4 of them. The 2 I received came within a few weeks so I don’t understand why it is taking so long. It has been the most stressful time. We currently looking at losing £2400 as we can’t change the holiday at all and the insurance won’t cover this.

The other 2 renewals, 1 child under 12 needed Identity confirming, this was done 21/03, this application and the other then followed the exact same timeline as above however 07/04 requested proof of parental responsibility (all 3 kids have same name as me but different to their mum), also identity check again for the under 12. Birth certs signed for 12/04 11:39 hopefully this won’t be a long drawn out process to show as documents received again like the first time.

Very impressed that we received our Son’s renewal in the space of 16 days. The documents were sent to Corby. The most stressful part is that the office don’t acknowledge receipt of documents in a timely manner as the systems are not updated. We received a notification that it had been approved on 12/04/22 and would then be passed for printing within a few days and then TNT would text with a tracing number but this didn’t happen. It seems that once they’re printed they arrive the next day by courier as a lot of people are reporting the same thing. Just waiting for our Son’s first passport now and we go away on 24th April so a little stressed! Very happy with the service considering it is so hit and miss. Here are the steps;
