Straightforward adult renewal. It has been a nightmare. I have only got my passport now as I drove to Durham and queued outside the passport office. Have had to pay £102 ‘upgrade fee’ as my application had been submitted less than 10 weeks ago. This seems very unfair when others appear to be receiving their documents back in 2-3 weeks with no extra fee being paid.

Thanks so much to this Forum for making me feel more relaxed about renewal of my Passport, I was on here daily checking on lead times. I only had an 8 week window before my trip due to being caught out on the “no passport older than 10 years to enter EU countries”, even though my passport didn’t expire till March next year.

Make sure you do signed delivery for your old passport, as it’s a seemingly long time before they acknowledged receipt or it. If possible do an application online, upload your photo and it is deemed suitable then and there. Use your PEX number minus the PEX number to track your delivery of your new passport if it’s with TNT. Don’t worry if you’re not at home to receive it as you do not need to sign for it.

Big shout out to Newport passport office where my husbands was processed, he got his back within 18 days!! – and that was even over the Long Jubilee weekend.

Ridiculous wait, with little to no communication from HMPO. After the 11 weeks, I was told I would not be upgraded as my travel was not within the two-week window. I booked a cheap flight for £6 within a week and received my passport 3 days later.

The process took 6 weeks exactly start to finish. This includes us having to send additional documentation via post as they came back to say the fathers details didn’t match their records which was strange. Of course the media make everything worse and caused unnecessary panic!

So relieved to receive it with 2 days until travel but the whole experience was stressful. We never heard from the upgrade team so thankfully it was approved anyway. We were told different things by every person we spoke to, whether it was over the phone or the web chat. We also had to confirm identity twice. Just glad it’s over!

Took 3 weeks and 3 days from digital check and send at the post office, approved on the 12/06 and received today 15/06.
I was so concerned will all I read that I honestly never got my hopes up for it arriving within the 10 weeks. I was however very anxious and did make my pending holiday seem impossible. Great work though so credit where credits due. Was kept up to date with application via online and TNT delivery was the day after printing. The only negative behind the postoffice service is you wont get updates.
I did give my contact details and they never texted me that they received it, i had to call and speak to someone regarding the day my application was processed and from then on i call the automated line to get updates on the status. (Application number given by postoffice)

Was worried with all the waiting times advertised and had some good/bad experiences over the advice line one staff member was rude in explaining how to apply for fast track after one application had gone through. Online help service and 72 hour reply are a no go unfortunately. But thanks to GOD we have received the passport 9 days before we go on holiday. DHL delivery came through 3 days after it had been printing.

overseas Adult Renewal completed on line, time line 5.5 weeks (40 days) yes i was stressful from the news in the media but a big shout out to passportwaitingtime.co.uk for having this forum open and also to all those that contribute, Digital is by far the best option where possible, i understand some need to send other docs etc, i also know that folks who applied in March & April appear to be suffering extra delays, keep trying to advance your application and keep the faith.
