Rang numerous times they started to say they had our application was submitted on the 25th April on their systems and now it’s gone into processing it can take 10 weeks from that processing. When we’d already been waiting 7 weeks.
Started to worry as due to go away on 11th to see family hadn’t seen in years due to COVID – I decided to write a letter to DURHAM to show our timeline which shows submitted on the 27th, our flight details – also wrote to say why the passport was damaged (they didn’t ask for this but seen on here they’d ask other people for this) the importance of our holiday – seeing family – included all the flight confirmations etc
The Letter arrived signed for 10th May at Durham – I wrote on the outside of letter URGENT FAO: Processing team – application currently in processing, submitted 27th March

All in all quite stressful as no one could help then started telling us the wrong information. I’d say ring them everyday like we did after 6week mark and write a letter showing your flight details – seem to help us get straight out of processing!

I was able though on the 17 May to use the passport application tracking number on the TNT website (before I’d been given any tracking info by HMRC/TNT) and found my delivery which I managed to change to a day earlier than was initially scheduled. Sent full birth certificate, however this was incorrectly logged on the system as the short version. On ‘documents received’ from 5th April to 13th May when it was approved. Luckily the examiner thoroughly checked the documents and saw we had submitted the full BC, however we are still waiting on my son’s first passport – also incorrectly logged on system as short version BC (at a different office!) Examiner not so thorough with this one as did not approve and requested full BC which they have, so they did not open document to check or read notes – and that’s the examiner! Bootle office have been emailed and asked to check document and approve. Hoping it gets resolved soon!

Used post office digital check and send service, felt more confident with them taking the photo of my 3 year old. Long delay between documents being sent, received and passport office acknowledging receipt made the experience more stressful than necessary. Media commentary on delays didn’t help either. This website really helped restore my confidence that our experience was normal. Application stuck at ‘documents received’ for a long time, but once approved the passport arrived within 2 days.

When I applied, I sent the short birth certificate. It took 2 weeks for them to receive it and then it took them 3 weeks to inform me that they need it the long version of it. Sent it with next day delivery and still took 2 weeks to get processed it. I thought I was not going to get the passport on time for our trip so I applied for a fast track application (Another £120 on top of the £50 already paid for the first application). Got to Belfast office with all my documents just to get told I was not eligible for a fast track passport since the first application was already being processed. So I had to fill a complaint in and now I’m hoping I’ll get that £120 back. It did take 2 months to land, which its not bad, but the entire experience was stressful. The delivery was very quick, I got the notification of my passport being printed on Saturday, got fully printed by Tuesday and it landed on Wednesday from Liverpool to Northern Ireland.

Rang and email Liverpool team with all the evidence due to compassionate reason but no respond from the passport office, so local MP get involved and approved straight away. Didn’t receive tracking details from TNT after passport was printed. TNT is the worst and most retarded delivery company as they anyhow delivered my son’s passport to my neighbour who live on the next street with completely different street name. We are so lucky that the neighbour hand delivered back the passport to us. After we’ve received the passport we rang TNT and ask they can’t even find my postcode in their system. I am wonder how did they managed to delivered the passport to my neighbour!?! Also paid extra £5 for the supporting documents to be returned but they never send the tracking detail to me. Kept calling but they said nothing they can do or advise where is the documents. Finally the docs appeal in the post today. Extremely Stressful experience!
