Kiddies passports have been received within the last 2 weeks however still no sign of mine and nothing changed on the Gov.uk website since 24th March. We fly on the 27th May, a week today and have spent hours on the phone to them this morning again chasing it up. Initially they couldn’t find my application and then was told it was with the Durham offices. Currently now waiting for a phone call from the “progress team” within 24/48 hours. The most frustrating thing is that they haven’t prioritised those that applied a while ago. People who applied at the beginning of this month have already received theirs back – where is the logic? Disgusting service – absolute shambles!!!

Took two weeks to confirm receipt of old passport, and all signed off and completed within a week from that point.

I applied for my passport on the 23rd April and I sent my old passport the same day. It took HMRC 3 weeks to update their system and let me know that they have received my old passport (my passport was not tracked), this caused a bit of stress from my side because I thought it might have got lost in the mail. As soon as they received it, the whole printing process and delivery was very smooth. My only advice for others applying is to keep in mind that their system is quite slow and that your passport is probably in the office somewhere – just not assigned to anyone yet.

Sent by check and send 28th March received Newport then sent to durham and sat with examiner since the 7th April! Requested upgrade due to travelling on the 21st May and after 2 hours on the phone yesterday we found out the photo was rejected due to bobble in hair and a letter was SENT to her parents via post on the 19th! Hour later upgrade team called and said they were accepting the photo and passport could be collected today…less than 24 hours before we fly! If it wasn’t for my daughter in law ringing and an extremely helpful member of the customer service team emailing the examiner to release the application to the upgrade team the holiday would have been ruined so big than you to those people who went above and beyond in a hour.

Was advised up to 10 weeks for passport to arrive. Was delivered well within that time. To be fair to the passport office they delivered well within the timeframe they set out. There is a lot of media hype that made us worry a little but from my experience the hype is exactly that.
The longest part of the process was waiting for them to approve the passport after receiving the documents. This took 5 weeks in total but as soon as it was approved it was delivered within a few days.
We did book our holiday before applying for the passport (spontaneous booking) however there was a gap of 16 weeks between applying for the passport and departure so no concerns of not receiving in time.

Glasgow office, error in system occurred and our countersignature’s ID confirmation wasn’t recognised (even though they did it). I only found out this is what was holding the application by queuing twice for 2 hours in London. Eventually emailed Glasgow office with details of error and evidence we were flying next week and got sorted over the phone. DO NOT RELY ON EMAIL OR EVEN CUSTOMER SERVICE CALLS- they told people inaccurate information which caused them to miss flights. The best way to find out what’s going on is to queue at a passport office (doesn’t have to be the one that you sent passport docs to). You can also ask for an upgrade (pay to speed service) if you have evidence you’re flying in 2 weeks)

We found out our sons passport would be caught out by the three month Brexit rule in April – just as the news of the passport office delays were hitting the headlines – and were very worried as we had travel booked on the 26th May. We submitted a normal application on 29th April after spending about 2 weeks prior to this trying to book a fast track appointment – none were available even though we were trying each day. On the advice of the passport advice line we were told to just do a normal application and upgrade, as they could not guarantee that any fast track appointments would be available (very glad we followed this advice as checking since there are still no available appointments online). We telephoned to upgrade 2 weeks before travel, managed to get through to somebody first time. Our upgrade request was submitted and we were told to expect a call back within 24-48 hours for further info. We received the call back after 4 days, and were asked to email proof of travel but the upgrade would not be guaranteed. We were told they are prioritising upgrade requests in order of the date of travel. In the meanwhile the passport was printed and we received it with a week to spare! This was not via the upgrade system – this must have just been the normal processing time as we never received the next call back to pay the upgrade fee; and I received an email today stating the upgrade request was still in the processing queue and they may not be able to guarantee travel (in 5 days time) despite the fact I have already got my passport! Chaos…but lucky for us we received it in time- less than 3 weeks overall with a bank holiday in the mix.

I decided to go straight for fast track despite having 8 weeks until our holiday for my baby’s first passport. This was the best decision I made.
3 week wait for appointment.
Appointment Tuesday 17th May 2pm.
Passport through door Sat 21st May 1pm.
Experience at the passport office was excellent. Very efficient, polite happy staff.
I honestly cannot fault the fast track service. Completely worth the money to save my stress levels.

I have applied and sent in my application on 4/15 it was received and i received a text saying i need to send in my old passport. That arrived in UK from USA on MAY 4th…I still as of 5/20 HAD NO UPDATE I leave mid July for international travel with my entire family who are US citizens and have passports. What must or can I do? Also has anyone been able to expedite overnight mail at least?
