Happy with service and fair return time. All done online. Just stressful as realised I needed to renew passport 5 weeks before due to travel. Took over a week for old documents (Liverpool office) to be acknowledged but process fairly quick after that and a bank holiday in between. I was a simple renewal, no name changes or address changes since last renewal 10 years ago and think that must help. Person I spoke to was very nice when I queried why old documents not acknowledged after a week. Only got TNT tracking on day of delivery but had already tracked it myself on their website.

Shocking service to be honest. HMPO were no help, severe delays to get through to them and when I did there was no action. Massive miscommunication, being told completely different things by different people. Missed my date of travel on the 3rd of April. It took 17 days after the courier received it to get to me, they did not notify me they had it. They attempted to deliver it to the wrong address and did not digitally alert me that delivery had been attempted. I had no idea they had it until I rang HMPO, only to tell me it had been attempted on the 9th of April, 2 weeks prior to the call. Needless to say, a complaint has been made. (12 weeks and 6 days)

Sent 2 passport renewals off at the same time (this adult renewal and a child renewal). Adult renewal went to Bootle and Child one went to Peterborough. Adult renewal arrived this afternoon. Child one was approved today and has been sent to print so still waiting on that to be printed and to arrive!
It seems like the 2 locations work differently – Bootle were quick to acknowledge the arrival of the old passport (3 days) but then slower to process and approve it (4 days). Peterborough took 14 days to acknowledge the old passport had arrived but only 1 day to approve and send to print!
Was pretty stressful waiting for the old child passport to be acknowledged but it’s obviously moving through the process so can’t complain especially as it only took 18 days from application to receiving the adult one.

Application submitted on 11 March. Supporting docs sent on 12 March and received (per Royal Mail tracking) on 14 March. Documents not marked as received/not linked to application until 28 March, 14 days later. This was the stressful bit!
The application was approved on 7 April and we received notification that the passport had been printed on 13 April. Received through the door with no further notification on 22 April. Around 6 weeks start to finish including Easter which wasn’t too bad in the end but the gap between sending the supporting documents and them getting linked to the application was much longer than I would have liked and in the time there is just nothing you can do except wait and hope. I have yet to receive the documents back but thankfully we don’t need them urgently.

the most stressful part of the application was awaiting HMPO to confirm they received my daughters birth certificate even though I had sent it next day signed for. I then heard nothing for 3 weeks but once approved it was in my hand within a couple of days.
I think reading a lot of bad experiences had my anxiety on 10. I must say I am still yet to receive the birth certificate back from HMPO.

Photo was marked by the website as good however was still rejected- I felt that it did meet the relaxed criteria for a 2 month old but didn’t argue and the new picture was approved quickly.
Disappointed at the state her birth certificate has been returned in- crumpled and a bit grubby. The corner of the new passport cover is also slightly bent on arrival.
Overall glad we received the passport in time for our holiday. We did not have to contact the passport office in the end though I did make one attempt at the web chat due to a 6 days delay between printing and delivery, however was continuously busy.

Unprofessional and incompetent right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing. Passport office admitted this was their error in February after countess of phone calls and emails, cancelled holidays and disappointments. Still no passport even though the email sent in February from the passport office said they would send it. What do you do, I have even got the MP involved who said due to the Ukraine war there is huge delays, the renewal was done last August and still waiting.

Extremely stressful, until a miracle happened. I applied in February thinking this was plenty of time before my travel date, May 1st. A week ago my passport still hadn’t been approved, it was still processing. I spent many hours trying to get through on line, successfully and unsuccessfully. One day I was cut off 47 times until I got through to someone on the process team. It took just over 7 hours. This is the exact number, not an exaggeration. I can’t believe it myself either! I was told it was highly unlikely I would receive my passport before the 1st May. And It was possible it might be even 13 weeks. I was extremely anxious as my trip is for work, a 6 month contract abroad.
Then last Thursday I received a phone call from the registrar in Belfast, who informed me my passport would be fast tracked, and I would receive it today, which I did. I’m extremely grateful at this unexpected kindness. I can’t thank her enough. It was totally out of the blue. So lesson learned.. apply in plenty of time and don’t give up hope.
Does anyone have experience of online application for a replacement passport for a 13yr old that had been lost and for change of name. Sounds messy but it is what it is. So stressed about it. It’s in ‘application in process’ stage. We fly on 15th June. Any comments appreciated guys.
Submitted online two 1st child passports in feb documents signed for recorded delivery 19th feb did not show as received on tracker until 7th march and 16th march. Our holiday is 16th may. After a lot of phone calls being cut off and kept on hold for hours i decided to to withdraw both applications by writing 2 withdrawal letters took over 2 weeks and a lot more phone calls for them to link withdrawl letters with applications, booked a fast track and went on tuesday both were approved and received after 3 days. My advice fast track if u have a holiday booked even if it is 6 months away, better for your mental health.
