Very stressful system not updating accurately but speaking to a person really helped get sorted and collected in person to avoid further delays. Also documents have been lost at the passport office. Definitely needs an upgrade on the processing. This site kept me semi sane with good advice and holiday next week looking good.

Back in the queue for the standard service which I didn’t realise until it was too late. It takes 3 weeks to cancel so just had to hope. In fairness it came really quick. Can’t fault it.

Very impressed with how speedy and stress-free this process was. I did specifically what they told us not to do, and booked my travel before realising my passport had expired. Got worried when I saw the possible 10-week waiting time but it appears adult renewals are much faster than this. I don’t think I’ve ever been impressed by a UK government department before… 🙂

Accidentally sent my passport as a supporting document for my daughters renewal.
Passport office lost my passport (later found out they posted it back to an address I lived at 9 years ago!). Had to submit a lost application and get my MP involved to chase for me. Managed to get an upgrade on the 6th week as needed my passport for a visa. Whole thing was ridiculously stressful.

I probably would’ve received my son’s passport sooner had I properly read the occupations necessary to confirm identity. I managed to hit jackpot on the third try! I renewed online and got a professional photo at Snappy Snaps. With all the identity palaver, the Jubilee weekend & the fact that I delayed until Summer to renew, I think 28 days from online application to delivered to my door is not bad. I hope everyone has good luck in getting their passports, I know it can be pretty stressful waiting.

Firstly let me start by saying I submitted 3 applications on Sunday 12th June in the evening, 2 child renewals and 1 adult renewal with a name change after marriage.
I triple checked all our details and sent covering letters with all the passports, linking the children’s applications to mine with the application references and vice versa. Just because….why not?! They all went to different passport offices. (Hemel, Bootle and Corby)
I sent all the passports special next day delivery on 13th June. 2 were signed for the next day and were showing as received on the royal mail website but the one to Corby was never update. It is still stating it’s sitting at the Corby delivery office (it’s definitely not because the passport is printed!). I was told the massive amount of passports being delivered aren’t all able to be signed for, but are still being delivered. (Not really the point of signed for delivery though!) So I tried not to panic.
All 3 passports were marked as reviewed by the passport office on 17th June, all were approved on 24th June, Two passports were printed on 27th June and out for delivery with TNT 28th June but the one sent to Corby wasn’t printed until early morning (4am) 28th June, so I can only imagine it’ll be out for delivery tomorrow (29th June).
16 days from application to ‘out for delivery’, I know this isn’t the case for everyone.
We needed to do an identity check for one of the children (Corby application), I was asked for it the night I applied (12th June) I asked a police officer to do it, so there weren’t any doubts and I wasn’t asked to provide someone else to do it. I took the children’s pictures on my phone which were accepted first time, but I had to do mine in a booth at the post office (because taking a selfie for my passport wasn’t possible!!)

If I can give any advice, it’s to check your application over 10 times before sending, if there are any questions or issues, I close a covering letter with your passport and make sure to put your application reference on the letter.

I stupidly did assume the system was better and that they would not keep supporting documents for possibly 10+ weeks and submitted my son’s valid foreign passport. As we were travelling to see family 8 weeks later. I tried to get the passport back for over 5 weeks without success. It seems to be no system in place to get supporting documents back early. Finally I had to get my MP to contact them and travel to my local passport office twice. Finally they were able to get us the new passport less than 24 hours before travel. Still waiting for the foreign passport and the person in the upgrade team told me she could not find the foreign passport other than on their computer system. Hopefully it will turn up in a few weeks.

Although the experience was easy, the feeling was stressful as we only just realised last week that our child’s passport falls beneath the 6 month validity period for our fully booked, non refundable holiday.
With all this 10 week wait business, and not being able to get online appointments, felt we were doomed, but honestly Peterborough Passport office were super fast and amazing. Applied online and prayed to god that somehow it comes before we leave on the 12th of July. Hope the best for everyone else in the same boat.
I applied for my passport to be renewed 4/4/22. I received acknowledgement that it had been received on 13/4/22. So 11 weeks from acknowledgement. It is impossible to speak to anyone. I have tried before to track its progress but did not get a response email. I tried again todsy and got a response saying it was waiting to be checked and the standard wait time was 10 weeks! This is beyond stressful!
