TNT tried to deliver 26 May, re arranged for 27 May and got it this morning.
Most stressful bits are waiting for them to acknowledge documents sent. And the courier, who said they’d tried to deliver and I was out… but I wasn’t… re booked the delivery, and it arrived first thing this morning. Big thanks to HMPO, and TNT. Was due to go away in 6.5 weeks, couldn’t get a fast track appointment so submitted via the standard online route. It took the passport office a week to acknowledge receipt of old passport after it was delivered but from then all steps were extremely quick and total time was less than 3 weeks from online submission.

Couldn’t get an appointment for fast track at passport office, so chanced it for a holiday 10 weeks away. Glad the passport office could come through at what must be such a busy time 🙂

I was really worried. I sent it after the scare with Ryanair! It took two weeks to acknowledge my old passport which was within their phone line advice. My DIY photo was rejected but got a booth one and the passport was approved within hours and then with me before the end of the week. The media has a lot to answer for scaremongering the public. Thank you to those working so hard at the passport office to get people their passports despite being dragged through the dirt in the press.

I couldn’t remember if I got something wrong on the application as I did it on behalf of my fiance, so I sent in a letter re-affirming passport details and included some prints of his passport photo just in case. The only problem was they kept trying to deliver when we were not home – bit of a faff.

This website was extremely helpful to read other comments. I was initially very apprehensive due to the horror stories that people have had. There was a stressful wait at the start as I had paid for signed next day special delivery and it never showed as being signed for or delivered. Royal Mail said some are falling through the gaps due to the large numbers of post arriving there each day. Passport was put on system around two weeks later then it was quick from there.

Overall a very smooth and fast experience from the Liverpool office. Delivered 26 May 2022, took approximately 21 days.
I submitted my photo with a digital code and sent my passport tracked and signed. Highly recommend to send tracked as this takes the stress from wondering if your passport was ever delivered, given it takes 2 weeks for HMRC to record as delivered.
I was kept up to date each time my passport moved through the process, both via email and text message.

I took the “take your own digital photo” option but the website to upload kept cutting the top of my head off, regardless of how much space had been there in the original photo. I tried many, many times (once submitting and being told the photo was not good enough although it had been rated “good” by the HO indicator when I uploaded it). I eventually gave up trying to avoid the problem and uploaded the photo with the least of my head cut off. It was quickly accepted. Strange process and I assume they are still figuring out this part of it.

Renewal of my son’s expired child passport to an adult passport.
After submission, passport office repeatedly requested additional documents that made no sense for the application which took 3 weeks to get them to revert. Then they asked to send his other foreign passport because he is a dual national so that they could check the name is the same. They insisted on the original rather than a scanned copy. Very stressful because he needs the foreign passport for travel in early July, and we were now left without either and I received no acknowledgement that they had received the foreign passport. A total of 3 calls to the helpline, 2 callbacks, and 1 webchat session with advisors to sort all this out. Plus numerous other attempted calls to the helpline that were automatically cleared because the queue was too long.

Don’t worry too much about the time lapse of passport being received at the passport office… and system being updated, there is a delay.
