Application being processed since 14 March. Phoned Them on the 29 March and was told it had been sent to print. Should be flying on 9 April. So stressful waiting. Almost positive it will not arrive on time. Why have an online service and not update the information. Would be so helpful to be advised before paying for the passport the length of time it can take.

Frustrating. It took 11 days to acknowledge the receipt of my old passport. The webchat and phone numbers don’t appear to be attended, I made sure to be there when they opened in the morning. They failed to inform me that my passport had been dispatched. I got a photo of my front door via text saying that they had tried to deliver. I was sitting 30 foot away.

I was panicking over my child’s first passport as it seemed to sit unacknowledged for a while, yet it picked up the pace, and it arrived within the 5-week guideline. When I reached out to passport support via their chat service and spoke to the progress team, they were ever so helpful, and I could not have faulted the service. I will never book a holiday before I have a valid passport again, though. The world post-COVID is certainly different, and it seems a lot of what was once easier and quicker is now a lot slower. This was reflected in the processing time and lack of updates, but to be honest, they said 5 weeks and it got to me in that timeframe. I cannot moan or grumble.

My Wife submitted in good time for our holiday this Saturday – I stupidly decided to cut the corner off the passport before returning so we had to submit additional documents (A statement of how/why it was damaged which put us back massively). We’ve contact HMPO every other day to get an update but finally received it via TNT at 10:56 this morning.
Timeline is below but a couple of things of note:
– It’s a flick of the coin as to how helpful HMPO can be, depends on what call handler you get – some will transfer you through to the Progress team (wait time is well over an hour) some won’t and put the phone down.
– Everyone I dealt with at TNT from Monday to Wednesday this week deserve a massive recognition for their compassion towards you and understanding of the situation – much better customer service than HMPO.
– Don’t cut the damn corner off of any passports before you send them back. (They employ someone to do it and you will annoy them doing it yourself). All in all my own fault but now looking forward to our holiday instead of pulling my hair out.

We updated the TNT Final Mile to a day closer than they set originally (Changed 7th to 6th April)
TNT collected from HMPO Manchester at 16:03 on 5 April 2022 (only got this info from the TNT call handler) – we didn’t receive a notification that it was with TNT just updating the TNT Final Mile web page every few hours. They typically pick up passports between 3pm-8pm each day they’ve said and as soon as the passport is loaded onto the truck and that consignment package is scanned it goes onto the TNT Final Mile website using your PEX number (without the PEX in front of it).

Passport was printed on 5/4 and I received it the following day.
When I applied, I also needed to send a Court Order, which I didn’t have. I spent over 3 hours on the phone to them, talking to different people and being told different things. On two occasions I waited over an hour to be transferred to the progress office. I was told there may be a 2 to 3 hour wait. I was then later told that they are not transferring any calls there, you have to request a call back.
I had a simple question which general enquiries was not able to answer. It was appalling. The staff who work there have clearly not had correct training, and end up confusing the clients instead of helping them. In future I think I will go in person and pay the extra for that, far less stressful.

Old passport was sent on 17th March and signed for on 18th (Friday). It then followed the timescales of others on this website. No point in checking the gov website because as soon as there is an update you receive an email and a text message. Save yourself the stress of constantly checking because your phone will know before you. It took 2 days for the TNT tracking information to appear, which is something you should keep checking, scheduled delivery for 9th April but was able to amend and bring forward to today, 8th.

Am getting anxious for my fellow 82 year old travel companion who sent her passport for renewal in March via local Royal Mail Post Office in Chester. We are pensioners (myself aged 76 an registered disabled) and hope to travel to Gran Canaria on 24th May 2022 from Manchester Airport – upon tracking her application she has been advised by Royal Mail Post Office that it was sent for processing to DURHAM our nearest passport office is Liverpool??!!
Please help us to receive her passport in time for our holiday date as she is very upset and distressed having not long recovered from major surgery.
