With holiday booked for 10 weeks time, realised that my current passport was 3 days short of having 3 months remaining from my date of return from Spain. Immediately sent off for renewal and returned old passport via track and sign next day delivery. Despite all the negative press and stress about passport turnaround times, it took 24 days to receive my new passport. As I live in Northern Ireland, I also applied for an Irish passport to reduce the risk of losing out on a family holiday. Still waiting for the Irish passport (although this is a first time application and the tracking is also looking positive). Probably no need to have applied for the Irish passport as good old HM Passport office performed fine. The upside is that I will have transcended Brexit, now having my new blue British passport but also my new Irish EU passport. Holiday has been saved, only stressful part was the delay on the HM passport tracker to receiving my old passport. Royal Mail tracking showed that the passport office received and signed for it the next day after it was sent.

Passport application 9.05.22. Documents sent special delivery and received before 1pm 10.05.22 but tracker not showing received until 23.5.22. Stressful few weeks but passport arrived much quicker than media has been publishing.

This is the 3rd renew that we have done and all have taken around 3 weeks; however, I applied for my sons 1st passport 19/04 and that is stuck in the dreaded processing stage. it hasn’t even been picked up by an examiner!

I was so nervous because I had already booked for a holiday! But honestly, I trusted in my gut and went for it. Got here in good timing. Still got enough time left for my holiday.
The wait was a nightmare!
I took my picture in Morrisons Photo Booth and it was uploaded to the gov.uk website automatically. Very easy process!

I’d heard of 10 week waits but it took only 4 weeks in total. It took 3 days for my old passport to arrive at the Peterborough passport office, then 2 weeks for it to be registered as received by HMPO, a few days to be approved and another week to arrive (the Jubilee no doubt delayed delivery). Perhaps it was so fast as it was a straightforward renewal.

I was really reluctant to send it off online as I knew the recommended waiting time was 10 weeks! I originally thought my son had another year but turned out it runs out end of June this year! Anyway bit the bullet and sent it off hoping and praying it would come back at least within 6 weeks. It literally took 3 weeks from sending it off until I received it today! I was kept updated every step of the way. I sent the old passport off at my local post office, payed next day, tracked and signed to arrive at the Liverpool office.

I didn’t send the old passport and another country’s passport until the 13th May, as I was worried we’d never see them again if I sent before the Easter holidays and then wanted to give things some time to calm down. The wait time was therefore just over three weeks. This was the Bootle office.

Hoping the other passports are returned soon.

I didn’t return the old passport for 2 weeks, it then took 2 weeks for them to acknowledge it. Then asked for a parental approval from mother. It wasn’t clear they needed it I I too have parental responsibility. This wasn’t followed up in any way so pointless I could have written and sent it myself which in my opinion achieved nothing apart from adding delay.
