If it helps, I actually called the passport office about the strikes prior to submitting the application, the lady said there are various unions within the passport office and the strikes will likely only impact people attending appointments for fast track passports.

So all in it only took 6 days from when I sent my passport to receiving
my passport back. Excellent service to be honest this is the quickest I’ve known
for a passport return. During normal times it’s usually 3 weeks.
