Just so anyone else aware my passport was printed early hours on Saturday morning and not collected till the Monday so was starting to panic as I know most people receive the next day as soon as printed, no Royal Mail collection on weekends so if your is printed then expect the Tuesday.
Fantastic service 12 days from when they scanned my old passport on system so exactly what timescale it said online. Every member of staff I spoke to very helpful.

Online application with name change. Documents and old passport sent two days after application submitted, received back same day as passport. Didn’t need a photo countersignature. Four stars because conflicting information between paper and online applications meant I had to contact HMPO twice to check what I needed to send.

Unfortunately child fast track was not as quick as expected – definitely not 7 days. Delays in Manchester sorting office meant the passport was delivered later than advised by Royal Mail, which meant our family missed holiday flights (applied online on Tuesday, passport office appointment the next day on the Wednesday morning first thing and passport not received until the following Thursday. Passports are delivered by 24 hour special delivery, which is not guaranteed. Surely a passport which has been paid for as fast track should be delivered by a more reliable service, guaranteeing the delivery date, so travel arrangements can be made.
