Delays were caused as I had issues with those selected to verify my identity. Flag that the person MUST be a friend and not an employer or employee (very odd) and MUST work in a recognised sector (some jobs such as telecoms are just not included).
24 July – application submitted, old passport sent
29 July – old passport received
2 Aug – request for details on passport damage and someone to verify my identity (note: damaged passport needed me to send a signed letter explaining how damage has occurred)
8 Aug – told I needed someone else to verify my identity. Resubmit again for third person to be refused
9 Aug – told to find fourth person to verify my identity. Application approved
10 Aug – passport printed
13 Aug – passport received

Very good and easy using the renewal online service from start to finish.
Only negative I have is changing my passport now when my old passport had a expiry date of 08/25 which included 6 months rollover and having just under 6 months left from the 10 year issue date ( brexit) this is time I have lost and paid for that I won’t get back.

Only annoying bit was I sent old passport and documents recorded delivery so know they were received 14/08, yet they recorded it as being received 19/08 so was slightly panicked!
