The application process is straightforward, and tracking is great. Loads of information provided about the process, next steps etc. From the time my documents arrived (25 March 2023) till the approval (2 Apr), it only took 9 calendar days and this includes two weekends plus some mixup with my referrer. Couldn’t be any better. Delivery took longer as the courier was DHL which is an absolute farce (no shade on the HMPO).

Despite all the warnings in the media of massive delays, I experienced nothing of the sort! I had used an online tool to work out the latest date I could travel on my old passport, given the new EU rules, and decided to renew about 2.5 weeks before that date, to allow 36 days before my next trip abroad. The Passport Office kept me informed of every stage of my application by email and text message (almost simultaneously) before passing on all communication to DHL once the passport was out for delivery. DHL gave me very specific delivery times and ended up about an hour late but I really can’t fault the Passport Office. A great service that allayed any concerns I may have had. Best of luck to everyone else renewing online.

Despite this being a complex application – it is a renewal of a second UK passport as I’m a frequent traveller – It went way faster than I was expecting. I got one odd message on the 4th April telling me my application was being held until I sent in copies of foreign passports. I called the advice-line to tell them I had none (they answered on the third ring) and explained this was a second UK passport renewal, they said that they’d update the notes and escalate to a supervisor and 15minutes later I had the online notification that the application was approved. Despite the strike and Easter, the new passport was in my hands at lunchtime today (6th April). Amazing service and the speed and frequency of communication removes so much stress.

I submitted an online application on the Friday 31st, the last working day before the strike, having tried and failed to get an appointment all week for the two-day service. I posted my old passport signed-for on the same day. On Monday 5th I received text and email notification that the old passport had been received, which means that someone had processed it, despite it being the first day of the strike. How long it takes to receive my passport after that remains to be seen. No updates so far. I’m travelling 21 May, so fingers crossed! I’ll keep you updated!

The only slight inconvenience was that I applied for my renewal, partners renewal and daughters first passport at the same time, I received the email confirmations for myself and daughter and partners went to his email. Stressful last minute application as we fly to paris on the 19th of may and only just heard of the strikes on the day i applied. Tried to find an fast track or premium appointment but they were all booked. Still found this amazing site helped ease the mind and decided to apply normally luckily it came within 11 days of application and 8 days from when they received my old passport! Perfect!

A bit nerve racking as had holiday booked and sent applications before the strikes were announced. The birth certificate got loaded onto the wrong family member application and wasn’t linked. I was initially advised to cancel the application and request documents are returned so I can eventually book a fast track appointment. Fortunately I then spoke to a very helpful gentleman who strongly recommended against doing that and stick with the current application. Very glad I did!

Applying for 4 children all first time passports as a family. Submission date was from initial registration online. Both Parents already have passports so documentation required was just the birth certificates. Posted them all in one envelope to Corby on 29th included a covering letter to ensure none could be mislaid or lost from application. the ref numbers were written on envelope. They acknowledged receipt on the 30th. Approved application on 5th.
Having been through the passport process last year and having to wait 10 weeks and physically drive to various locations (in vain). I learnt that once it has been approved it is automatically printed and posted. so I will expect delivery within 2 days max.

Booked an appointment for Saturday 1st April through the UKPassportCheck Twitter page. Had my interview with my prepared documentation, photos and old passport. Took about 5 minutes to complete. Received passport Thursday 6th April. Nice and quick postage despite strikes etc.

Getting an appointment was really stressful as I was travelling in 3 weeks and there were hardly and fast track appointments available. I found the twitter account which told me when appointments were coming online which was a lifesaver and got an appointment the next day, downside was I live in Swansea and only appointments available were in Durham.
However having got the appointment, Durham office were great, saw me earlier than my appointment time, friendly and no wait. And passport arrived ahead of predicted time
