Straight forward process. Took my own picture at home and submitted the application online. Sent my old passport the day after as application was done on a Sunday. They received my old passport next day through recorded Royal Mail delivery. Passport approved 8 working days later and received the new passport in just over 2 weeks including 2 bank holidays.

I posted on a weekend which meant it was received on a Tuesday. I received regular updates but the first was quite slow. Between approval and receiving it was a quick turnaround.

23 April – Applied online for child over 12 and received email and text notifications at every stage. I took quite a few photographs of my child which was a good thing as several of them were rejected by the website, shadows on the wall etc.
I sent off the old passport the next day.
